Reading a baby's chart is seldom a useful exercise. It tends to lead to too much projection and expectation on the part of the parents.
But taking into account my misgivings about babies' charts, this child is an exception. Because he is a future king, for better or worse, his life is already partially determined for him. Or so we think. Much in the world can and will change before this little boy ascends the throne. The popularity of the royal family comes in waves, ebbing and flowing like a tide. Right now they are on the crest of a wave. But in 20, 40, 60 years, who knows.
I am, however, going to keep my thoughts focused and to a minimum.
If there is one word to describe this chart, it is transformation. This is a profoundly family man (Cancer stellium), bound by tradition (Pluto in Capricorn), the leader of his house (Sun at the head of the stellium). So much is obvious.
His father William has Sun in Cancer. His mother has Sun in Capricorn. They are clearly represented in this chart by the prince's Sun and Moon. This fits with the traditional symbolism of the planets and continues the Cancer/Capricorn themes of his family from grandma Diana (Cancer) and great-granny Queen (Capricorn Rising). If only astrology was always this obvious!
But there is a problem here for a king. This is the chart of a private person, someone who hates the limelight (Scorpio Rising, 8th house stellium opposed by Pluto). He will have to grin and bear it. With the Moon in Capricorn supported by Saturn in Scorpio, he will be able to bear it, but it will not make him happy.
Taking this on board, if he becomes king, he will be (almost) the first of the English monarchs since George III not to have either Saturn or Jupiter on the MC or in the 10th House. There are two exceptions to this rule, of course, and one is Edward VIII, who abdicated, the other is George IV, who is considered one of the more ineffectual monarchs. Prince Charles does not have this signature, the famous traditional sign of kings, but then he has yet to ascend the throne. Both William and Harry have it.
However, this may simply mean that this prince will turn out to be a different sort of monarch from his predecessors. And he may well be lucky, the chart ruler Mars conjunct Jupiter, bringer of luck. The other lucky planet, Venus, almost miraculously, conjuncts the royal star Regulus in this prince's chart. This is the highest placed planet in the chart - and it, like many of the other placements in this chart, speaks of great wealth.
In fact, the main axis of the chart is across houses two and eight - money and debt.
This is undoubtedly a tough chart, relieved by the glamourous and rather sexy grand trine in water. But difficult charts make good people. With the care and support this prince will get, I expect he will be just fine. And if there are any family secrets to keep, with all that 8th house Cancer, he will keep them safe as a locked box.
Oh and the transformation? Scorpio is the sign that transforms utterly. He has Scorpio Rising and a massive stellium in Scorpio's house, including his Sun. This speaks of a transformation in personal identity. The North Node, his life's direction, is in Scorpio. Scorpio's ruler is Pluto, which opposes this stellium from the second house of riches. But perhaps more crucially, that Pluto sits smack on the UK Sun, the nations's identity and it's rulers. That conflict between the private, sensitive, secretive Cancer prince and the demands of the nation will have to be resolved.
