re: Iraq - I was hoping that you would post the chart for the US out of Iraq. From what I could tell it was December 15, 2011 13:00 Bagdad local time. Neptune is at 28 Aquarius 30. Compare to the other big disaster on the US Moon with the BP Oil Spill where Neptune was at 28 Aquarius 50 according to the chart in your archives. I think this
makes a very convincing case for the true position of the US natal moon...at 28 Aquarius and some minutes between 30 and 50 and could be
used to backtime the true Ascendant of the US chart. I always enjoy reading your columns and wish you the best for the next year...no matter what it brings.
A. Currently, as the troops withdraw, transiting Saturn is exactly square the US Pluto, the ruler of the Scorpio Rising chart. Neptune at 28 AQ is perfectly trioctile (sesquisquare) the U.S. Sun. This action - withdrawing from Iraq - was instigated by Obama, ie, American leadership, which is symbolized by the U.S. Sun, not Moon. The invasion began on Mar 19, 2003 when the progressed US Sun was at 28 AQ, so Neptune passing over this point is a significant ending to this Iraq cycle.
When Bush invaded in 2003, transiting Jupiter was in imperial Leo and exactly square the US Scorpio Ascendant from the 9th house of foreign affairs. Transiting Saturn was cnj the US Mars, the co-ruler of the Scorpio Ascendant.
The Moon symbolizes the people, consumers, voters, not leadership. Candidates with close connections to the US Moon at 25 AQ do the best. This is all chronicled and detailed in many articles at my website. What led to Newt's surge, if not his several close connections to the US Moon? He has zero planets or angles at 28 AQ, but his Gemini Sun, Chiron in Leo, and Fortuna in Libra are all in 25 degrees of their respective signs. How do you figure he's a leading GOP candidate if the U.S. Moon is at 28 AQ?
re: Russia - I was heartened to read your commentary on "Russia's Arab Spring," since just this past weekend I was reviewing Vladimir Putin's horoscope for signs of decay; only to hear the latest in the news today (Mon.) that the nickel magnate Michail Prokhorov was throwing his hat in the ring to oppose Putin! Could you, would you, take a look at what the outcome here may be? Just from Putin's horoscope, with his Saturn return and Saturn on the ascendant, by the March 4th, upcoming presidential elections, in my humble opinion, because he's not apt to make the necessary adjustments that Saturn requires, methinks Putin is...GOING DOWN. But that may also be because of wishful thinking. Here in Latvia and I'm sure across Europe, in all of EU -- thanks for those write-ups, little gems, too -- we're being cautiously optimistic.
re: Elizabeth Warren - She seems to be a wonderful candidate. I wish we had at least one Senator like Elizabeth Warren in all 50 states...But she shares a birthdate with the enormously successful Meryl Streep. Although they operate in different fields, both are their generation's top female role models.

Obama-Clinton – 2012?
Political economist Robert Reich is predicting* (based on no insider information) that Joseph Biden and Hillary Clinton will trade places. Biden will become the Secretary of State and Clinton will become the Vice President, teaming up with Obama for the 2012 campaign. A composite chart between Obama and Clinton tells us what they have to offer and how successful they might be.
Their composite Sun is located at 22º Virgo, a position that strengthens Obama tremendously since his natal Mars is at 22º Virgo. Their Virgo Sun is found in the 9th house of foreign policy, an area where Obama and Clinton both shine. Although Reich’s prediction seems casual, it’s likely to pick up some cachet over the coming months as transiting Mars passes back and forth over their composite Sun.
The Moon in independent Aries is the most natural symbol for Hillary Clinton. The Moon is much enhanced by a trine to lucky Jupiter, and energized and empowered by trines to Mars and Pluto. The Moon is given an eccentric, radical disposition by the square to Uranus, and a dose of idealism by the opposition to Neptune. These many dynamic aspects indicate that Ms. Clinton would be an outstanding player on this ticket.
Composite Chiron is located at 8º Capricorn, right on the Capricorn Ascendant, and will be activated throughout 2012 by the transiting Uranus-Pluto square. Chiron is well-placed here (as part of an Earth Grand Trine), indicating they have practical solutions to the nation’s economic woes.
Most importantly, their composite Saturn is located at 8º Scorpio, which (coincidentally!?) is exactly conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. Transiting Saturn - in Libra - now will conjoin their composite Saturn in late 2012 when they could certainly claim victory. Astrologically, this is a winning combination.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guard
Mars advances only three degrees during the month of January, since it will turn retrograde on the 24th. These three degrees, covering 20º to 23º Virgo, are unusually dynamic since they align with the U.S. Mars-Neptune square. The shape of pending trouble became apparent last week, when Iran threatened to shut off the Strait of Hormuz, the gateway to 1/6 of the world’s oil.
Like the U.S., Iran (April 1, 1979; 3:00 pm; Tehran) also has a Mars-Neptune square, and it’s also being activated by transiting Mars throughout January. The combination of Mars and Neptune is a clear reference to fighting over oil, as well as military conflict (Mars) in and around seaways (Neptune). As Mars activates Iran’s Mars-Neptune, the Revolutionary Guard is staging war games in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Mars conjoins Vesta, creating a highly focused empowerment of an elite group within the armed forces. In Pisces, Vesta can readily be identified as Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, which was chartered to protect Iran’s Islamic system. On January 24, transiting Mars will turn retrograde while exactly opposite Iran’s Vesta (orb: 0º05’). As it turns out, the Revolutionary Guard is also in charge of naval operations around the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran’s Vesta resides in the 8th house of corporations and capitalism. Since its founding in 1979, the Revolutionary Guard has expanded rapidly and taken control of an estimated 1/3 of Iran’s economy. Under President Ahmadinejad’s guidance, the Revolutionary Guard has become the most powerful faction in Iranian society – more powerful than any ayatollah. Iran’s progressed Vesta is now at 8º Aries, a point becoming stressed by transiting Uranus and Pluto. Iran is in the process of morphing into a volatile military corporatocracy.

Meryl Streep as the Iron Lady
In interviews about her performance as Margaret Thatcher, Meryl Streep jokes that it’s the girl version of King Lear. Similar to Shakespeare’s tale about an aging king going mad, Iron Lady looks at Britain’s first and only female prime minister from the point of view of an addled recluse. Streep has been praised for her astonishingly accurate depiction and deserving of a Best Actress Oscar.
Meryl Streep was born with an eccentric Sun-Uranus conjunction in Cancer (June 22, 1949; 8:05 am; Summit, NJ), which is grounded by a sextile to Saturn. This three-planet combination is also found in two other Hollywood actresses who have had long, successful careers. Ginger Rogers and Barbara Stanwyck were both born with the Sun in Cancer conjunct an outer planet, and favorably aspecting Saturn.
Meryl Streep is best known for her ability to play emotionally complex and diverse roles, and especially her ability to imitate foreign accents. Gemini is the sign associated with mimicry, and her Mercury-Mars conjunction there emphasizes her linguistic skills, especially with the trine to sensitive Neptune. The Taurus Moon squaring Pluto adds emotional depth to everything she does, filling her roles with understated intensity punctuated by explosions of exuberance, sadness, rage, or humor.
Like consumer advocate Elizabeth Warren (also born on June 22, 1949), the actress is expected to do well in 2012. Streep will be experiencing a progressed New Moon (sextile natal Sun-Uranus) on February 26 when the Academy Awards ceremony will be televised from Hollywood. On that occasion, transiting Neptune in Pisces favorably trines her Sun-Uranus, while transiting Venus and Jupiter in her tenth house promise honors and recognition.
