"Thank you very much, you answered all of my questions and offered me great insight into my life and any future issues as well as potential issues that may arise. Your reading was phenomenal!"
"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

re: Iran - What are the chances that the negotiations with Iran regarding its nuclear program will be successfully completed in June? Do the stars favor such an agreement between these two nations? The follow up question is what are the chances if the agreement getting through the Congress? I realized that any answer that you give is highly speculative, but I was just wondering if astrology was leaning towards a more favorable outcome to such an agreement or against it?
A. First, astrology is not a homogenous whole that favors one outcome or another. Astrology is made up of many individual astrologers who often have diametrically opposing views. Now in my opinion, this deal will go forward. Using the Scorpio Rising horoscope, transiting Uranus is exactly trine the Midheaven while transiting Neptune is exactly trine the Ascendant. If you ask those who favor a different chart for the U.S. you won't find these angular hits, and then you might get a totally different forecast.
re: royal family - I don't believe the Kate v Queen stuff either. I think they are very much on the same page as you say, but I do think Kate will be the most powerful royal when the queen goes. She is a very strong woman. Kate is busy breeding right now. Most likely scenario: Phil dies or is too ill to go on, Queen abdicates, Charles crowned. Queen's Mum lived to be more than 100.
re: royal family - This is so significant. Most of the people on the planet have only known one British ruler. Talk about a long-standing institution. Whew. I know that it's all a bunch of pomp and circumstance, but lordy do they know how to do THAT. I also think that in today's society we don't recognize the importance of this kind of ceremony. In any case, We could see two more in our lifetimes. Charles is no spring chicken. If he does get the throne, I could see him dying and passing it along to his son in my lifetime. It's possible....
re: Prince Charles - I know the royal succession comes down to a popularity contest but I am well aware of Charles very deep concerns for the planetary environment and his efforts to promote sustainable practices in agriculture and a general appreciation for Mother Earth. He is under-estimated by many who really don't know him very well.
re: Hillary - According to your post last May, Hillary's Double Whammy, is it possible that:
1) T-Neptune at 8 Pisces squaring natal Uranus (USA chart) at 8 Gemini (communication, correspondence) made HC’s news conference at the UN a much bigger global story?
2) HC’s P2-Mars (in her 10th) opposing T-Neptune has now cast doubt that she may not be ready for prime time (waiting to respond over a week regarding lack of transparency)? Doesn't it highlighting her team as dysfunctional and not inspirational?
A. Yes, the Neptune influence is very clear in this email debacle. The Neptune transits to the U.S. chart being concurrent with events in HC's life are normal for national politicians. They wouldn't be on the national stage without close connections to the U.S. chart.
re: plagiarism - Did I ever tell you that a head honcho of our astrology association here in <deleted>, back about 4 or so years ago, when he was just coming here from <deleted>, wrote at length about some theme that I recognized as yours, with examples and all from your column… except that he turned the result around to fit his hypothesis -- and used all of that as his own material. Of course, I couldn't let that pass without bringing it up and, in the process, embarrassing him. Interestingly that I was then blackballed by "the good ol' guys" of the association. And presently, a bit of that kind of hypocrisy and nastiness is something I'm presently facing, having returned to <deleted> . After I had my say, I just decided to go off on my own.
A. Thank-you for sharing this. And for your courage.
re: Baltimore data - I've been researching the relevant dates for Baltimore, MD to see what shows for the current riots and those of 1968. My first date find was July 30, 1729 which was on 2 commercial-type city information websites. I deferred to the date on the government website since I thought the govt. website had more credibility and the astrology hits seemed better. Thanks for your website. I'm a big fan!
A. In 1752 the U.K and its colonies (including the U.S.) switched from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar. This meant adding eleven days to the date. So July 30, 1729 was the recorded date using the Julian calendar. In the Gregorian calendar, that's equivalent to August 10, 1729. Here's a website to get more info: calendar switch
re: Bernie Sanders - I enjoy your Web site Neptune Café, and thank you for that great piece that you did on the successful likelihood of an Iran - US Nuclear power agreement. I wondered if you would like to do a review of Senator Bernie Sanders horoscope? Although his chances of winning are very small, he is reminiscent of Eugene McCarthy of the 1960's. Whatever anyone thinks of Senator Sanders, no one doubts his authenticity, and that is a rare commodity in politics and therefore interesting.
re: Paul Rand - I'm a bit surprised at myself to find Paul Rand of interest. Particularly like that he even mentions the need for a reform of the criminal justice system and the drug legislation because of how it has persecuted so many African-American and Hispanic males…and since the Benghazi episode, have simply lost trust in Hillary Clinton. Wondered if Rand had close connections to the US chart. Thanks!
re: Rubio - Your analysis of Senator Rubio certainly seems spot on. It's in tune with what I think I've been seeing---amazing. And I just wondered out loud the other day whether they'd run him for Vice President. (No less annoying for some of us.) I'm still confronted by people near to me, or not, who don't know anything about astrology, but love to dismiss it altogether. But I always find it interesting...
re: Paul Rand - What I’d really like to know is what you see for Rand Paul, whose Sun is being transsited by Pluto through the campaign. He’s likely a long shot, but that Puto-Sun contact got me wondering about his potential. He probably doesn’t have close enough contact with the US Moon though, unless you count the 23Leo Mars.
re: the Royals - Taking a minute to let you know how much I appreciate your columns that give us insight into constellations of people. Looking at several members of Britain's royal family, and then looking at the constellation of Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea Clinton—so often identified as an American Royal Family, affords us perspective on the multi-faceted dynamics of an influential collective. It makes for a more in-depth column that I find innovative in the arena of public astrology.
re: NBA Finals - Great article on the NBA Finals. I love that you're an astrologer AND a sports fan! Hey, maybe you can start a website with astro insights for sports bettors like me! I love sports astrology, and you could really carve out a niche for yourself. NO ONE is doing it.
re: NewsScope - How can I get your news every week? I am a new reader.
A. NewsScope is updated every Monday. Just bookmark this page in your favorite places, and come back early in the week to get in depth astrology perspectives about current events.
re: O'Malley - Being a resident of NH, I've met Martin OMalley several times. I think of him as running for Vice President. Seems to have a good technical grasp of how to govern, setting goals, measuring outcomes, analyzing results. Might be a good Al Gore to Hillary's Clinton.... Loyal reader
re: NBA finals - I have a sports related question for you because I know you're a big basketball fan/former player. Who do you think is going to win the NBA Championship? Cleveland or Golden State? Thanks so much. LOVE your column, keep up the great work.
re: Putin - For all the Western nations suspicions about FIFA and Its awarding Russia the World Cup competition, Putin seems more popular than ever at home. It seems every attack by the media only strengthens his standing. Maybe the media should back off their scandal search and move on! What astrological factors explain his longevity?
re: Bernie Sanders- It is obvious, as you point out, that all the Republicans are concerned with serving the plutocrats, and not the people. It seems the same is true with Hillary, except she is someone more in touch with the people. The exception is Bernie Sanders. He is way more in touch with Americans. NewsScope is still interesting and insightful after all these years!
re: U.S. Moon- Just a comment on your recent article about the US moon’s irrelevance with today’s politicians, Ted Cruz has natal Jupiter in Scorpio, 25 degrees 42, and the north node at 25 degrees 19. I was under the impression that having a planet at 25 degrees, regardless of the sign, is a huge plus in the political landscape and connecting with the public at large.
A. Yes, you're correct, I forgot about his Jupiter, though I mentioned it in NewsScope March 30, 2015. By secondary progression, his Mercury will be at 26 degrees Capricorn next year, and nearly conjunct the U.S. Pluto.
re: U.S. Moon - Your comments about the relevance of connections to the U.S. Moon in Presidential Elections are interesting. I still feel they are very relevant. My system is to count up the number of conjunctions of an individual's Chart to the U.S. Chart and compare them. Whoever has the most conjunctions generally wins the Election. It clocks out. Your way works good and my way works good. People who become very popular in the United States (Hollywood Stars, writers, etc.) generally have a high number of conjunctions to the U.S. Chart.

Saturn's Trans-Pacific Partnership
As Richard Tarnas has so thoroughly detailed in his classic book Cosmos and Psyche, Saturn-Pluto aspects coincide with times of conservative empowerment while Jupiter-Uranus aspects bring liberal uprisings. And what happens when these two cycles coincide? We’re in the midst of finding out as Congress wrestles with Obama’s free trade deal. Last Friday, Democrats revolted against their president to vote down the bill.
President Obama, like Bill Clinton in 1993, joined with the Republican opposition to urge passage of regional trade agreements. Clinton signed NAFTA into law on December 8, 1993 during a tight Saturn-Pluto square. Currently, transiting Saturn and Pluto are octile (45º) and at the same time, transiting Pluto is squaring the U.S. Saturn in the partnership sign of Libra. This double Saturn-Pluto influence has rallied corporations into fashioning a trade agreement with 11 Asian nations.
Obama supports TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership) because it includes a bill that would help displaced American workers. Democrats, led by Nancy Pelosi and the trade unions, fear that jobs will be outsourced to Asia. As the chief of the AFL-CIO said, “our government belongs not to the highest corporate bidders but to the working people who make our country run.” Growing awareness of corporate dominance comes under the auspices of the current Jupiter-Uranus trine.
Obama suffered a major defeat, and he took it personally. Last Friday’s vote took place when a transiting Sun-Mars conjunction was exactly squaring his natal Mars, which perfectly describes the ego conflicts. Many Democrats complained about Obama’s peevish attitude which didn’t help his cause. The Jupiter-Uranus aspect peaks at the end of this month, while transiting Pluto remains in a long-term square to the U.S. Saturn. This suggests that TPP will ultimately be passed.
Venus and Jupiter in the Night Sky
This month presents a great opportunity to enjoy the night sky with a fabulous conjunction shaping up between Venus and Jupiter. Venus is the third brightest object in the sky after the Sun and Moon, and Jupiter is fourth. This week the Moon will be below the horizon, making it the best time to get familiar with astrology’s Greater and Lesser Benefics.
The conjunction takes place at 21º Leo on July 1 at 3:50 am EDT (12:50 am PDT). Not only are Venus and Jupiter conjoined in the same degree of the zodiac, but they are also in the same declination, just 1/2º north of the Sun’s path. Venus and Jupiter together bring all kinds of benefits and blessings, depending on where this conjunction falls in your own horoscope.
The beauty of this Venus-Jupiter conjunction is especially apparent in the hours after the Sun sets. No matter where you are, even in large cities where light pollution normally cuts off clear views of the sky, you can spot these two drawing closer to each other over the coming two weeks. If you’re lucky enough to have your Sun around 21º Leo, you may be especially targeted for good fortune.
The troubled marriage of Ben Affleck may make a decisive turn since his Sun is 22º Leo. Other celebrities with their Sun in this degree zone (< 2º) include Madonna, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, James Cameron, Benjamin Pratt, Melinda Gates, Steve Martin, and Steve Carrell. Politicians who might be in the news due to their Sun being here include Fidel Castro, Janet Yellen, Princess Anne, and Napoleon. Watch the planets illuminate the stars!
Secretariat, the Racing Machine
Following up on the American Pharoah story, this amazing thoroughbred did indeed win the Triple Crown. And as suggested, he was born close to noon, according to NewsScope correspondent and data researcher Loretta Yeo*. American Pharoah put in the second fastest time at Belmont, coming behind Secretariat in 1973, who also holds the records for the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness Stakes.
Secretariat was foaled when the Aries Sun opposed Uranus (March 30, 1970; 12:10 am; Paris, KY), a planetary combination shared with American Pharoah that brings an aura of excitement and electricity to the racetrack. By traditional measurements, Mars would not seem to be strongly placed -- only a very wide trine to Pluto. However, Mars is exactly trioctile (135º) the Midheaven, which is a connection we expect for a professional athlete.
When Secretariat won the Triple Crown on June 9, 1973, transiting Pluto was conjunct the Midheaven and activating the natal Mars-Midheaven aspect. Black Moon Lilith also plays a favorable role in this chart: she’s located at 12º Leo and trine the Sun on one side and the Ascendant at 12º Sagittarius on the other, creating a Fire Grand Trine. During Secretariat’s historic Triple Crown races, the Sun had progressed to 12º Aries, completing the Grand Trine network.
Black Moon Lilith’s placement in Leo may be associated with Secretariat’s extraordinarily large heart, about 2 ¾ times the size of average horses. Secretariat became a racing machine, beating the competition at Belmont by a record-setting 32 lengths. However, experts rank Secretariat as the #2 best racehorse of the 20th century after Man o’ War (b. March 29, 1917). Like Secretariat, Man o’ War was born with the Sun in Aries trine Lilith in Leo. What are the odds?
