"Thank you very much, you answered all of my questions and offered me great insight into my life and any future issues as well as potential issues that may arise. Your reading was phenomenal!"
"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

re: Cuba - As of this week, we are revisiting our Cuban relationship with the USA. Do you believe this is tied to the Eclipse in the 60’s coming full circle (54 year eclipse cycle)? Does this also tie into the current T-Pluto opposition to the US-N-Sun – (bypassing Congress)?
A. I don't know about the eclipses, could be... But it's certainly related to transiting Pluto opposite the U.S. Sun. Obama's historic arrangement was expressed as an Executive Order. It remains up to Congress to lift the economic embargo that's been in place since the early 1960s.
re: Paul Revere - Thank you for your Paul Revere story in the 12/15 NewsScope. I have always wished I was there on 4/18/75, hey, maybe I was. Interesting, the 3/20/15 and 9/27/15 eclipses fall on his Mars and Moon, will keep watch on the news then.
re: Emancipation Proclamation - This week's Neptune Cafe is outstanding. Thank you for looking at the big picture for the rest of us. Having a way to understand and hold the intensity of the world is so valuable.
re: Emancipation Proclamation - I agree that race is the prime issue going on here however it's the issue of race plus police enforcement which is the main focus. Without analyzing that, you're still not getting to the heart of the problem. It seems to me that the role of the state police departments around America have been quite different from that of western European countries.
A. Yes, you're correct, the police have become militarized due to mega-funding of Homeland Security. I did allude to that in the first paragraph of the third article, but it could surely use a more in depth discussion as Pluto in Capricorn opposes the U.S. Sun.
re: Emancipation Proclamation - What I have learned about Black Moon Lilith is that it mainly has to do with a drive for freedom and human dignity. When I look at the EP chart for the date of Obama's election, I see that transiting Pluto exactly opposed the EP Black Moon Lilith. When I look at the current progressed EP chart, I see that progressed BML opposes the EP Mercury, which creates a dialog about how to treat black people.
If you look at Martin Luther King's natal chart, he has Jupiter sesquiquadrate (135d) to Black Moon (orb 0d 09m). The interpretation for anyone with this aspect is:
"You can be creative, versatile, brilliant, and prolific. You could excel at anything that requires a high level of mental functioning. You are probably more analytical and perceptive than are your peers. You like to keep changing, trying to do new things. Depending on your field, your ideas can be seen as radical or revolutionary. You function better as an individual than you do as part of a team, although you can be well complemented by more practical or business-oriented partners. You can be an inspiration or influential teacher to the younger generation."
A. This letter is from astrologer John Halloran. Visit his website at www.halloran.com to find out more about Lilith in aspect to the planets. Yes, Lilith is all over the EP chart.
Regulus - In November's astro-event #5 you said that around November 22 there would be news about celebrities and royalty because Lilith was conjuncting the royal asteroid Regulus. I notice that Marilyn Monroe has her natal Lilith at 29 Leo and she has been in the news lately because of her letters being auctioned. So it was spot on in regards to Marilyn who is American royalty. And the news came out that William and Kate are heading to New York soon.

re: Alexis Tsipras - if Tsipras has natal Mercury-Saturn in the 2nd house, he's stuck with that sense of a financial burden for the rest if his life, isn't he?
A. It's being hit by transiting Uranus and Pluto, so a major concern now. The natal potential is apparent in every planet, but it manifests when progressions or transits come by. I didn't mention it, but Tsipras was born four days after Greece became a nation, so he in particular personifies today's Greece.
re: Klay Thompson - Thanks for your excellent analysis of Klay's excellent performance.
re: gay marriage - I think the Supreme Court will approve/support gay marriage across the nation, mainly because the North Node at 13 Libra Rx is conjunct the U.S. Saturn 14 Libra. I have noticed that Libra has played heavily in this issue.
re: US election - Though I've relocated for a bit over a year now to the other side of "the pond," the upcoming US presidential election continues to intrigue me, especially, as you've described transiting Saturn's placement in present contenders' charts! In this day and age, US leadership change is such an important barometer to the statues of EU. Thanks for your column that I follow religiously every Monday morning!
re: France - You said that the full moon would activate the Uranus Pluto square. I would guess that Uranus, discovered in 1781, represents Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité, the national motto of France.
re: NewsScope - I am mailing you a $25 check for keeping me on your early NewsScope email list. You have me guessing about what events or people you will cover each week. For an amateur astrologer like me, it is educational indeed.
re: France - I haven't seen the cartoons but I am stuck and glad you called them distasteful and offensive. Not to mention this just isn't the right time to make fun of anyone's religion. Some of my closest friends are Muslims. But of course the fanatics are just creating more hate making things harder for Muslims. What a situation.
re: Hillary - Ultimately, don't you think that the Neptune influences softening that Mars-Pluto might actually help her? She can be scary....
A. Perhaps so. But the Neptune influences do lend some credibility to the tabloid stories about her excess drinking and that she may need a rehab program.
re: Angelique Kidjo - A prospective time of 5:27 AM puts her Moon-Lilith square right on the MC/Asc! Moon in Aries conjunct the Midheaven certainly describes her. Just a thought.
re: U.S. Plutocracy - I really enjoyed your article on the Uranus-Pluto Square and its effects on the US and globally. What interests me now is Saturn’s entrance into Sagittarius and the harsh aspects it will be making; first with the US Uranus in Gemini, Part of Fortune, and Mars in Gemini -- all in the 8th house of debt and other people’s money. Will we see a stock market crash and another Recession fall upon the economically beaten down masses? It almost seems inevitable that the Bankster and the Oligarchy may soon take a BIG HIT in their Wall Street wallets with US taxpayers again bailing them out since Frank/Dodd continues to be gutted by Congress and a Dino President.

re: the first NewsScope - Your obituary for Jeff Jawer mentioned starting the Weekly NewsScope in 1998. I dug around on my computer and found what I think is the very first NewsScope, from February 1997. It is attached. But it does seem that by January 1998 it had stabilized to its present form.
A. Maybe the first ones were in 1996 - I'm thinking August 1996 is when I started writing it for AOL's AstroNet. I do remember writing just one straight column for a while until I was informed that those who surf the net have short attention spans and three brief articles would be better than one long one. After AstroNet folded, it was syndicated to a few websites, including Astrogram and Astrologyzine, which has the earliest NewsScopes still posted on the net. They go back to December 1996. See http://www.astrologyzine.com
re: Jeff Jawer - I'm very sorry for the loss of your colleague, he will be missed by many. Jeff was the first professional astrologer I consulted, probably about 15 years ago, and his reading was very helpful at the time. I've been a regular StarIQ reader since then, and StarIQ is where I first read your articles.
re: Jeff Jawer - So sorry you and all of us have lost Jeff. The tribute in your column is a way to let so many people know he was here, gave a lot, and appears to be gone. Onward with appreciation
re: Jeff Jawer - Such a nice way of commemorating Jeff Jawer.
re: Jeff Jawer - I too (like so many readers) feel a deep gratitude for StarIQ.com. Your tribute to Jeff is lovely.
re: Brian Williams and Bob Simon - One unwillingly stepped out of the spotlight due to hubris ... while the other left the spotlight of life. Both of these television journalists had exceptional skills and experience. Why did it go so differently for them?
re: Brian Williams - Integrity goes a long way in the news business. It looks like transiting Pluto will oppose Williams' natal Mars over the next couple of years. Do you think he can recover from this self-inflicted crisis?
A. I doubt it. I'd be more confident of this if we had an exact birth time to work with.
re: Bobbi Christina Brown - it would be interesting to see the connections between Bobbi's chart, her mother Whitney Houston's chart, the date of Whitney's death and the recent biopic on Lifetime. What a sad, sad story for that little girl. Too much grown up emotions for her to handle.

The Boris Nemtsov Papers
Last week, under the influence of a transiting Sun-Neptune conjunction opposite Black Moon Lilith, news watchers felt the intriguing strangeness of three celebrity deaths. Leonard Nimoy, dying of natural causes, had captured a global following with his portrayal of the mysterious Mr. Spock. In Missouri, the candidate for governor, Tom Schweich, committed suicide. And in Moscow, Boris Nemtsov, a Putin challenger, was assassinated.
Nemtsov’s murder will likely have a tremendous geopolitical ripple effect, since he was born (October 9, 1959; Sochi, Russia; time unknown) with his Libra Sun perfectly aligned with March’s transiting Uranus-Pluto square. His Sun is flanked by Vesta and Mars, a signature describing his unflagging courage for the cause he believed in. He was shot four times in the back just one day before he was to lead a protest rally against Putin’s not-so-secret war in Ukraine.
Nemtsov was trained as a physicist and is the author of more than 60 academic papers, an intellectual background that is astrologically captured by the prominent placement of his Mercury. Located in penetrating Scorpio, his Mercury gains depth and focus through favorable aspects to Saturn and Pluto. And yet with its conjunction to Neptune, Mercury is also endowed with a keen intuition.
On February 10, as Nemtsov was preparing some research that would prove the presence of Russian military in eastern Ukraine, he wrote “I’m afraid Putin will kill me.” The statement was posted on a Russian news website just as Mercury was turning direct at 1º Aquarius where it formed an exact square to his natal Mercury. Astrologers can tell Nemtsov was planning something big: his progressed Mars was nearly conjunct natal Jupiter. Russian investigators, appointed by Putin, confiscated all his papers from his apartment the night after his murder.
Top Five Astro-Events for March
1. Jupiter trines Uranus on the 3rd and is in effect from the 1st through the Full Moon on the 5th. This wonderful combination promotes creativity, individuality, and spontaneity. Break away from stagnant patterns, especially where relationships are concerned. Let self-promotion take a backseat to helping others forward. All social interactions are favored as is participating in progressive causes and technologies.
2. Mars in Aries activates the Uranus-Pluto square from the 5th through 11th, bringing a high-energy phase with plenty of action in the personal and geopolitical realms. Watch out for erratic, explosive individuals, but otherwise, when your goals are clear, this is a good time to advance with courage and conviction. Expect fiery accidents, overblown political rhetoric, and surprising military ventures. Mars promotes high-octane challenges at many levels of our collective.
3. Saturn turns retrograde on the 14th, an astro-event that generally is too subtle to notice. But speedy Mercury and Juno (turning direct) are aligned with Saturn, making the 13th through 16th a good time to re-think partnership patterns. Key issues in committed relationships may be religious or spiritual differences, or wherever there’s a great age difference. Are these deal-breakers or not?
4. The 7th Uranus-Pluto square is exact on the 16th, and is the final connection between these radical, transformative planets. Those with prominent planets in the middle degrees of the cardinal signs will be going through the deepest personal changes. This particular square happens to align with the U.S. progressed Jupiter, implying a further empowerment of the elite, and dramatic developments in corporate America.
5. The Solar Eclipse in Pisces takes place on the 20th, likely bringing some unexpected changes in leadership in a few world capitals. With the concurrent Uranus-Pluto square, expect some exceptionally weird weather, and disasters along the coast or at sea. The path of totality runs between Iceland and Great Britain, and happens to conjoin the UK Moon (1066 chart). Watch for news about the royal family, perhaps concerning Queen Elizabeth.
David Tredinnick,
The MP Favoring Astrology
Following an interview with the UK’s Astrological Journal, Conservative MP David Tredinnick’s favorable views on astrology have received an outpouring of criticism from the British press. The problem is that Tredinnick proposes that the health care system should use astrology to help patients. “I do believe that astrology and complementary medicine would help take the huge pressure off doctors,” he said.
Tredinnick was born with his Capricorn Sun in the sixth house of health (January 19, 1950; 7:00 pm*; Worthing, UK), a combination that naturally expresses itself as a need to take responsibility for health issues. But since his Sun squares Black Moon Lilith and is quincunx (150º) Uranus, his views tend away from mainstream paradigms. Tredinnick has been chairman of Parliament’s Integrative Healthcare since 2002, where he has advocated a variety of alternative medicine practices, including astrology.
His Moon in Aquarius is another placement that favors eccentric views, and ones that may be seen as flaky or impractical, since it forms an exact trine to ethereal Neptune. Tredinnick is quick to condemn his critics, saying that his opponents “are driven by superstition, ignorance, and prejudice.” With his Moon in logical Aquarius but opposing Pluto, he holds deep passion for his cause, which then tends to evoke intense flak.
In spite of the many nasty commentaries published against Tredinnick, his chart looks strong enough to withstand the voters’ disapproval. His progressed Sun and Mercury are now in early Aries where they receive supportive trines from transiting Saturn. This set-up will likely enable him to survive the general election scheduled for May 7. And for the astrological community, his progressed Sun and Mercury in Aries does make him a pioneer, and a champion for astrology’s practical uses.
* The time should be considered approximate and is based on clues provided by Victor Olliver, the editor of the Astrological Journal: “He dropped a hint that his 6th house is well populated and that [he has a] Jupiter Pluto in opposition 6-12.” Many thanks to Christina Rodenbeck for facilitating this connection.
