re: Winter Olympics - What with all the political unrest in the world, and certainly also around Sochi … how safe will it really be? Some believe that the perimeter is being “sealed/protected” very well, but that just outside this “ring of protection“ is where terrorist activity might take place. What do the stars have to say?
Chiron - I want to thank you for your comments on Jeff Bezos, and Chiron in your January 13th column. My brother was born on November 24, 1963 less than 2 days following JFK's assassination. About 7 days after my brother's 50th birthday, he suddenly and unexpectedly lost his eyesight in both eyes to cataracts. Jeff Bezos and my brother were born seven weeks apart from each other, and both of them had transiting Chiron within one degree of their natal Chirons when they experienced their respective sudden and unexpected health issues! My gratitude for all your fine service.
re: UR-PL square - I have been keeping a diary of the hits of the Uranus Pluto square and especially when it forms a cross with personal planets and during January, July, October, etc. It has indeed been wreaking havoc in millions of people’s lives. As far as our current Economy goes, I think you are right when you say that the Cancer Jupiter and Scorpio Saturn are supporting or upholding our current Markets and Business situation. However, when Jupiter goes into Leo and Squares Scorpio I think Business as usual and the Overinflated Market will begin to DEFLATE like a punctured Balloon. By the end of Obama’s Lame Duck Term, we may indeed go into another unwanted RECESSION. That is my take on all this. What do you think?
re: your writing - Your work, your writing seems very Virgo: very clear, very precise. You are also a fine writer, such a rare thing. But you feel that magic and it is there in your work if someone is subtle enough to notice it. Astrology is very lucky to have you: someone with so much integrity, precision, professionalism and someone who transmits that magic, although I suspect that is done unwittingly.
A. Thank-you. My Mercury is in Virgo. Much of the credit for having grammatically correct copy every week goes to my proofreader, Kathie Hornyak. She has four planets in Virgo, including her Sun, which makes her a stickler when it comes to using the right word or phrase.
re: Political Astrology - I recently mentioned your book "Political Astrology" on an astrology e-mail list. Unfortunately, your book is not only out of print, the copies that are available are ridiculously priced, one going for over $2000!

re: market collapse - I am a big fan of yours and I'm on your site almost daily...often Sunday nights waiting for midnight so I can read your Newscope articles. Last week I was sent a video by Joni Patry a Vedic Astrologer. Joni Patry is predicting the collapse of the world markets in January and she goes on to predict that 2014 will be the most significant year of our life times filled with wars, disasters, earthquakes etc. So I have always been questioning if Vedic astrologers have insights that are not available to western astrologers. Could you comment on this?
A. In the video, she explains that she's referring to April's Grand Cross between Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto. She also calls herself a "neo-Vedic astrologer" because she uses the outer planets and Vedic astrologers in general don't use them.So she's more of a western astrologer than Vedic, although she uses the sideral zodiac rather than the western tropical zodiac.
As for a market collapse, or other calamity, no one knows for sure, but it is indeed a signature for major disruption in one form or another. It's particularly relevant for the U.S. since the Grand Cross aligns with the U.S. Sun. NewsScope has been and will continue to feature the major celebrities, political players and national horoscopes being influenced by this Grand Cross.
In my view, adding the outer planets is only a small step toward deploying the most effective celestial bodies. The four major asteroids and Black Moon Lilith add gender balance to the horoscope, and reflect the Awakening Goddess archetypes that traditional astrology, and especially Vedic astrology, ignores.

re: guns and Lilith - Had a chill go up my spine when the breaking news of the LAX shooting hit today. I had just read the article this morning on Neptunecafe relating BML to guns in the USA Scorpio rising chart. Caused me to check the tri-wheel for the US chart and sure enough the transiting Moon is on the progressed Mean Black Moon Lilith at 15 Libra. Wow!
re: top five - First the 4th U-P square on the 1st, then the eclipse on the 3rd, then Merc going direct trine Neptune: Does this bode well for the ACA (Obamacare) going through a difficult transformation, and coming out much more positively later in the month, much as the administration is saying? I hope so. I know too many people who need reliable health coverage for this to fail. As always, great info on your site.

A. I use SolarFire to create the charts, and then fine-tune those and add some artistic touches with some very simple graphics software, so it's a combination.
re: neptunecafe - I really like reading and thinking about your articles; they offer the best information on the internet. Recently I read about the asteroid Juno. Please help me understand it better in my chart.
A. Juno and Venus are both about relationships. Juno is more interested in forming a long term commitment than Venus, while Venus is interested in sex, romance, and intimacy. If Venus and Juno are harmoniously aspected in your chart, you can marry for love, otherwise commitments may suffer from wandering affections. You can get a full description of your natal Juno and the other three major asteroids (Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas) by ordering an Asteroid Goddess Report.

re: Tea Party - The current articles at NeptuneCafe are more indicative of a well written article with less COMMENTARY compared to other articles around the net that had me so dismayed---until you get to the Tea party nasty-ass comments. As a former upstate (Communist state of) New York Tea Party Founder and Leader during the 2010 mid-terms, I have to wonder how many Tea Party people like myself you may know. Last Friday the U.S. stock markets ended with their worst weekly losses in over a year after China announced an unexpected slowdown in its manufacturing sector. While most analysts see the possibility of a 10-15% correction, a few are wondering if this is the beginning of a major crash. And quite a few astrologers, noting the Grand Cross coming in April, are likewise anticipating a serious financial crisis.
Several planetary alignments are helping to bring about this sharp reversal after many stock markets recently hit their all-time highs. Most notably, a Jupiter-Pluto opposition on January 31 takes place on the same day that Venus turns direct. Market reversals often take place within a few days of a Venus station, marking either a top or bottom. This one is extraordinary because Venus happens to be aligned with the Jupiter-Pluto opposition as it turns direct.
Here's what the Grand Cross looks like on April 21, involving Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto and all aligned with the U.S. Sun.
underscoring the fearfulness that has gripped investors. However, with Jupiter hanging around the U.S. Sun, American financial health is secured, at least for the wealthy. Saturn and Pluto in mutual reception and in signs associated with capitalism (Scorpio) and corporations (Capricorn) likewise assure the well-being of the investment class.
On January 29, Ben Bernanke will preside over his final Fed meeting, and then he turns the reins over to Janet Yellen. She takes over the Central Bank as Venus turns direct while exactly opposing the U.S. Sun. This astrological signature defines her as the most powerful woman in global finance. The transition fits the evolutionary nature of April’s Grand Cross better than a complete financial meltdown.
In financial astrology, Jupiter-Pluto combinations often represent the movement of big money, either buying or selling. In the U.S. horoscope, transiting Mars just entered the 12th house,
February’s Top Five Astro-Events
1. Mars squares the U.S. Mercury-Pluto axis from the 12th house of self-undoing, secret enemies, and behind-the-scenes activities, an influence in effect through all of February and March. Under this dynamic, expect secret alliances to be shaping up, and politicians – especially potential candidates – to be sharpening their message. Covert actions may be expected on a variety of levels, including diplomatic, military and financial. More cyber-attacks are likely. Markets get spooked.
2. Mercury turns retrograde in Pisces on the 6th while near Neptune, offering communications from the invisible realms. In practical affairs on the 5th, 6th and 7th avoid making decisions based on concrete facts since things may not be as they seem. Relying on intuition works much better. Listen to dreams, astrologers, and mystics for insights. Re-think basic assumptions and plans from the 6th though the 28th, when Mercury turns direct.
3. Chiron trines Jupiter on the 5th and sextiles Pluto on the 25th, making Chiron in Pisces a key player all month. Alternative health practitioners are favored; chronic health issues may be remedied by trying a more holistic approach. Those wounded by traditional religions may find an opportunity to throw off guilt and shame and find a broader spiritual perspective untainted by dogma. Caring for elderly parents or misguided youth is favored.
4. The Full Moon in Leo on the 14th and the preceding two days provides some release of pressure and a good time to socialize. The Sun in Aquarius trines Mars during the Full Moon, emphasizing personal relationships within social networks. Expect lively discussions, with strong opinions being expressed. Creativity is enhanced at this time, although it’s not a good time to market artistic products.
5. Jupiter squares Uranus on the 26th, an exciting, stimulating dynamic in effect from the 15th through the end of the month. These two outer planets promote progressive, innovative social movements. On the personal level, family relationships may be improved by trying new approaches to old problems. High-tech gadgets introduced at this time may have serious flaws. Watch out for phishing schemes and computer problems from the 12th though month’s end.

Super Bowl XLVIII (48) is being billed as a match-up between an unstoppable force and an immovable object. The Denver Broncos’ super offense led by Peyton Manning not only led the NFL this year, but is the best ever. The Seattle Seahawks, led by second-year quarterback Russell Wilson, have the best defense record in the NFL.
Russell Wilson was born with his Sagittarius Sun trine Mars (November 29, 1988; Cincinnati, OH; time unknown), an athletic combination that brings leadership, courage, and an abundance of optimism. His Sun also opposes Jupiter in multi-talented Gemini, which gave him a shot at playing professional baseball. But he signed a four-year, $3 million contract with the Seahawks on May 7, 2012 when his progressed Venus conjoined his Sun.
Wilson’s Saturn in Capricorn, the sign of limitations and obstacles, can be seen as representing the Seahawks’ top-rated defense. The team led the NFL with the fewest points allowed, fewest yards per play allowed, and most forced turnovers. Currently, Wilson has five planets progressed into Capricorn, including a progressed
Sun-Saturn conjunction. This describes the charismatic quarterback as the Captain of the best defensive team.
Astrologically, Mars is the symbol for the unstoppable force, while Saturn represents the immovable object. Wilson was born with Mars square Saturn, which underscores the contest between these two dynamics. Similarly, Peyton Manning has Saturn in late Cancer squared by transiting Mars during the Super Bowl. However, transiting Saturn is trine Manning’s progressed Mars, so he’s working more harmoniously with this tough combination. For this reason, the edge goes to the veteran.
