re: your writing - Your work, your writing seems very Virgo: very clear, very precise. You are also a fine writer, such a rare thing. But you feel that magic and it is there in your work if someone is subtle enough to notice it. Astrology is very lucky to have you: someone with so much integrity, precision, professionalism and someone who transmits that magic, although I suspect that is done unwittingly.
A. Thank-you. My Mercury is in Virgo. Much of the credit for having grammatically correct copy every week goes to my proofreader, Kathie Hornyak. She has four planets in Virgo, including her Sun, which makes her a stickler when it comes to using the right word or phrase.
re: Political Astrology - I recently mentioned your book "Political Astrology" on an astrology e-mail list. Unfortunately, your book is not only out of print, the copies that are available are ridiculously priced, one going for over $2000!

re: market collapse - I am a big fan of yours and I'm on your site almost daily...often Sunday nights waiting for midnight so I can read your Newscope articles. Last week I was sent a video by Joni Patry a Vedic Astrologer. Joni Patry is predicting the collapse of the world markets in January and she goes on to predict that 2014 will be the most significant year of our life times filled with wars, disasters, earthquakes etc. So I have always been questioning if Vedic astrologers have insights that are not available to western astrologers. Could you comment on this?
A. In the video, she explains that she's referring to April's Grand Cross between Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto. She also calls herself a "neo-Vedic astrologer" because she uses the outer planets and Vedic astrologers in general don't use them.So she's more of a western astrologer than Vedic, although she uses the sideral zodiac rather than the western tropical zodiac.
As for a market collapse, or other calamity, no one knows for sure, but it is indeed a signature for major disruption in one form or another. It's particularly relevant for the U.S. since the Grand Cross aligns with the U.S. Sun. NewsScope has been and will continue to feature the major celebrities, political players and national horoscopes being influenced by this Grand Cross.
In my view, adding the outer planets is only a small step toward deploying the most effective celestial bodies. The four major asteroids and Black Moon Lilith add gender balance to the horoscope, and reflect the Awakening Goddess archetypes that traditional astrology, and especially Vedic astrology, ignores.

re: guns and Lilith - Had a chill go up my spine when the breaking news of the LAX shooting hit today. I had just read the article this morning on Neptunecafe relating BML to guns in the USA Scorpio rising chart. Caused me to check the tri-wheel for the US chart and sure enough the transiting Moon is on the progressed Mean Black Moon Lilith at 15 Libra. Wow!
re: top five - First the 4th U-P square on the 1st, then the eclipse on the 3rd, then Merc going direct trine Neptune: Does this bode well for the ACA (Obamacare) going through a difficult transformation, and coming out much more positively later in the month, much as the administration is saying? I hope so. I know too many people who need reliable health coverage for this to fail. As always, great info on your site.

A. I use SolarFire to create the charts, and then fine-tune those and add some artistic touches with some very simple graphics software, so it's a combination.
re: neptunecafe - I really like reading and thinking about your articles; they offer the best information on the internet. Recently I read about the asteroid Juno. Please help me understand it better in my chart.
A. Juno and Venus are both about relationships. Juno is more interested in forming a long term commitment than Venus, while Venus is interested in sex, romance, and intimacy. If Venus and Juno are harmoniously aspected in your chart, you can marry for love, otherwise commitments may suffer from wandering affections. You can get a full description of your natal Juno and the other three major asteroids (Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas) by ordering an Asteroid Goddess Report.

re: Tea Party - The current articles at NeptuneCafe are more indicative of a well written article with less COMMENTARY compared to other articles around the net that had me so dismayed---until you get to the Tea party nasty-ass comments. As a former upstate (Communist state of) New York Tea Party Founder and Leader during the 2010 mid-terms, I have to wonder how many Tea Party people like myself you may know. If you met me in person, would you hate me and call me the kinds of things you call the Tea Party?
re: Tea Party - I have gone searching for astrologers who do political astrology...but have been sorely disappointed so far because of the liberal/progressives being so hateful towards anything that they don't like which is usually anything about FREE MARKET CAPITALISM, Freedom, Constitutional, etc. They are all for SOCIAL JUSTICE which has a communist history of its own.

The Chiron-Pluto Dynamic
When Chiron entered Pisces in 1960, it immediately picked up an opposition to Pluto in Virgo, creating a powerful dynamic in the charts of those born around that time. Due to their highly elliptical orbits, Chiron and Pluto remained in this opposition pattern through 1968, so this one aspect can be found in the charts of all those born in that era.
Fifty years later, Chiron is transiting through Pisces once again, and creating a Chiron Return for individuals born between 1962 and 1964. This major astro-event can be particularly unsettling since Chiron is in the same degree as the current Uranus-Pluto square. All the intense soul-searching that goes on with this Chiron-Pluto dynamic forces one to deal with the major wound of one’s life, which can manifest on the physical, emotional, psychological or spiritual levels of being.
Consider the case of Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos (January 12, 1964) who was evacuated from the Galapagos Islands last week to treat kidney stones. His Chiron opposes a Uranus-Pluto conjunction. Last week transiting Chiron was only one degree from its natal place, creating this health crisis.
His progressed Mars at 9º Pisces is an additional factor, and corresponds to the intense inflammation associated with kidney stones.
Chiron doesn’t just bring pain, of course, but also works to heal. In Bezos’ chart, Chiron squares Ceres, which suggests that dietary changes will improve his health. Over the coming year his progressed Mars will complete its opposition to natal Uranus, which increases the potential for significant health issues. Alternatively, and hopefully, he can use the solutions-oriented quality of Chiron to heal the Washington Post, establish low orbit space stations (project Blue Origin), and bring drones into service to deliver Amazon products.
Is Governor Christie a Bully?
Last week Governor Christie declared “I am not a bully!” in response to growing criticism of his personal temperament and hardball political tactics. The uproar over the jammed bridge* was only the latest instance of how rough he can be on his political enemies, as pundits question whether the New Jersey governor can maintain his status as the GOP’s de facto leader on the presidential campaign trail.

Chris Christie was born with a strong-willed Sun-Pluto conjunction in Virgo (September 6, 1962; Newark, NJ; time unknown), a combination often associated with an obsession for power and dictatorial tendencies. On the plus side, the Sun-Pluto conjunction represents a charismatic figure, someone who can capture the public imagination. In Christie’s case, his Sun-Pluto opposes Chiron, which can bring out the more ruthless side of this combination.
Christie’s renowned blunt speech may be empowered by his intense personality, but his Mercury-Mars square is the astrological culprit when it comes to tactless criticism and argumentativeness. Black Moon Lilith at 13º Libra conjoins his Mercury, a critical degree since it’s in line with the transiting Uranus-Pluto square. The entire scandal unfolded over the last month as transiting Uranus and Pluto activated his Mercury-Mars square.
Christie is also going through his Chiron Return in Pisces, the sign associated with self-sacrifice. During last week’s lengthy news conference he apologized profusely and proclaimed himself a victim of his staff’s stupidity. Watch over the next few months as transiting Uranus and Pluto activate Christie’s Lilith. Federal investigators are exploring what may have been hidden, i.e., what he knew about the vengeful incident. What secrets does Lilith hold?
West Virginia’s Chiron Return
Last Thursday a chemical foaming agent spilled out of its containment tank and into the Elk River, contaminating the water supply in nine West Virginia counties. The environmental disaster is only the latest involving coal, the dirtiest, most toxic sector in the energy industry. West Virginia became a state on June 20, 1863 when it split off from Virginia during the Civil War.
The mining industry is ruled by Saturn, so it makes sense that West Virginia’s Gemini Sun closely squares Saturn. Astrologer Marc Penfield has rectified West Virginia birth time to 10:54 am (EST; Wheeling, WV), which puts the Ascendant at 10º Virgo. It’s odd, because Penfield doesn’t use Chiron, yet in this rectified chart, Chiron is conjunct the Descendant at 10º Pisces. Chiron’s placement becomes troublesome because it squares the Lunar Node axis.
As we know, one of the problem areas for Pisces is lack of proper boundaries. Last week, transiting Chiron returned to its natal position, marking West Virginia’s third Chiron Return. The lack of safe restraints was also evident during West Virginia’s worst environmental disaster* when Pittston Coal Company’s slurry dam burst on February 26, 1972 – only four days after being approved by a federal inspector. The resulting flood killed 125 people.
At the time, transiting Neptune was conjoining WV’s North Node and squaring natal Chiron. The transiting Sun conjoined natal Chiron, activating this karmic complex. Another problem in West Virginia’s chart is that Jupiter forms an exact square to Black Moon Lilith. Normally, one doesn’t associate crisis with Jupiter, but in this chart Jupiter is about the over-confidence that conceals hidden hazards. Transiting Uranus was exactly conjunct Jupiter during the 1972 incident and transiting Mars is there now. The coal companies invariably claim that their operations are safe.
