re: graphics - Love reading your column every Monday morning. It's quite informative and well written. I was wondering how you make the horoscope graphics for your columns. If you could let me know where I could obtain software that re-creates images like these that would be great. Thanks very much! Keep up the great work!
A. I use SolarFire to create the charts, and then fine-tune those and add some artistic touches with some very simple graphics software, so it's a combination.
re: neptunecafe - I really like reading and thinking about your articles; they offer the best information on the internet. Recently I read about the asteroid Juno. Please help me understand it better in my chart.
A. Juno and Venus are both about relationships. Juno is more interested in forming a long term commitment than Venus, while Venus is interested in sex, romance, and intimacy. If Venus and Juno are harmoniously aspected in your chart, you can marry for love, otherwise commitments may suffer from wandering affections. You can get a full description of your natal Juno and the other three major asteroids (Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas) by ordering an Asteroid Goddess Report.
re: Rahm Emanuel - Take a look at Rahm Emanuel's chart. He says he is running for re-election in February 2015. He has to file petitions at the end of 2014. How does his chart look for re-election?

re: Tea Party - The current articles at NeptuneCafe are more indicative of a well written article with less COMMENTARY compared to other articles around the net that had me so dismayed---until you get to the Tea party nasty-ass comments. As a former upstate (Communist state of) New York Tea Party Founder and Leader during the 2010 mid-terms, I have to wonder how many Tea Party people like myself you may know. If you met me in person, would you hate me and call me the kinds of things you call the Tea Party?
re: Tea Party - I have gone searching for astrologers who do political astrology...but have been sorely disappointed so far because of the liberal/progressives being so hateful towards anything that they don't like which is usually anything about FREE MARKET CAPITALISM, Freedom, Constitutional, etc. They are all for SOCIAL JUSTICE which has a communist history of its own.
re: Ted Cruz - Your assessment on him is incorrect. Saturn in Scorpio will cause him to "Crash and Burn", politically speaking..
re: Ted Cruz - The stellium of 8th house planets (3 of them in Scorpio, natural ruler of the 8th house) can indicate he would do well with and for other people's money. But can it also lead to life-threatening plots against him? Cruz does have 1st house chiron (which I find to be a little worrisome) opposed 7th house of open enemies Uranus but it is not quite in orb.
Yes Sun Pluto can have a 'fascination' with power. But Cruz' 'fascination with power' may indicate his ability to work successfully with power and his 7th house/Libra placement of planets shows indomitable ability towards discernment and fairness - and holding the line.
I suspect that balancing the budget and refusing the debt ceiling will be next on his list - which might upset a lot of people who want the 'free' goodies to continue, caring not what debt they straddle future generations with - but we will see.
A. Please note that Cruz's birth time is unknown, and so I use 12 noon by default. This means we don't know which houses his various planets fall in...
re: NewsScope slant - why is it that there are no really fair astrologers out there anywhere??? I was hoping you were different. the leftist slant on EVERTHING is such a disappointment. You have good insight astrologically but then wreck it by inserting your hatred of conservatives.
A. I know, it's really difficult. I go the same reaction from Democrats when I forecast that Romney would win.
re: slant - I really enjoy your site and send the link to many people frequently. You would be a person I would trust on the astrology of the US and how it will probably be consumed for the next 100 or so years under socialists/communists /progressives----but only IF you would write it with NO SLANT whatsoever. You are better than the rest, that is certain. As a metaphysical conservative - I am an anomaly. But, I still think that there is an answer someplace within astrology for why this is happening.... hoping you will go in depth at some point SOON on what our future may hold as foretold by the heavens.

re: Miley Cyrus data - Love your Neptune Café blog.... What is your source for that Miley Cyrus' birthday? Astrodatabank has 6:37 am, but it looks like a solar rising chart to me. Their source is some comment on facebook.
A. Yes, the Facebook data is suspect and rated C. My colleague John Halloran sent me her birth time with this note:

re: election - How do you explain your incorrect call on the election?

re: geodetics - One can correlate the zodiac with areas on the planet, which is called geodetic astrology. Zero degres Aries runs through Greenwich and the signs advance east from there. So Washington DC would have 12 degrees Capricorn at the MC. It would be interesting to to see you taking a position on this, with reasons.
A. I just read a book which definitively proves that the 0 degrees Aries meridian goes through Jerusalem. It's called Astrogeographia by Robert Powell. The thing is, I'm already involved with so many controversial stances (Scorpio Rising US chart, asteroids and Lilith), that I don't feel up to deciphering the geodetic puzzle. National charts work very well, so for the time being I'll stick with those.
re: Snowden relocated - Such a nice, clear statement. I've gone on and on trying to share the same point. I began relocating charts in 1970 before I'd seen an ACG map. They are very useful, especially when doing mundane work, but for the refinement, nothing beats a horoscope.
re: Tornado Alley and ACG maps- Your reasoning about tornados in the U.S. may be correct, but you have an obvious technical error. Or at the very least, your wording misrepresents what an AstroCartoGraphy map is. You say, "[W]hen relocating the U.S. chart to Moore, Oklahoma, Mercury is right on the Midheaven and Pluto is three degrees from the 4th house cusp, the IC." What's wrong is that relocating the chart is irrelevant because relocating the chart does not change the AstroCartoGraphy map in the slightest. An ACG map represents where you would have to relocate to get certain celestial bodies on the angles. You don't have to relocate the original chart to see that.
re: royal baby - Thanks for your very interesting Newscope articles -- I always like your topics. I hope someone will be interested in doing the Royal baby's chart---I didn't think it would quite be a Leo - it isn't, right?
A. If George were born 32 minutes later, he would be a Leo. Many astrologers have written good profiles on the young prince, so I'll pass on this story. But I hope you enjoy the Royal Succession angle.

re: Newcomers - I want to thank you for your "Newcomers" page. I've been introducing some friends to astrology and this page will be very helpful to them. I'm pleased, too, that my library includes several of the recommended books. I may pick them up and re-read them as a good review!

The Mercury RX Files
From the troubled launch of the Healthcare.gov website, to a “miscommunication” involving a Senator insulting Obama to his face, to James Taylor forgetting the words to the national anthem at the World Series – Mercury retrograde is having a field day. Because this three-week phase of Mercury’s back-tracking occurs during a powerful Uranus-Pluto square, the snafus have the potential to be much more damaging and far-reaching.
Astrologers often use words starting with “re“ to describe the effects of Mercury retrograde, like “re-think”, “re-strategize”, “remove”, “rebuild”, “repair”, “reconstruct”, “re-design” and so on. Ideally, since this Mercury cycle takes place in regenerative Scorpio, the emphasis is on the transformative quality of the information, which helps to improve situations. But Mercury retrograde in Scorpio is also associated with spying, mystery, suspicion, and investigations.
Last week, when Mercury retrograde was trine Black Moon Lilith in the family-oriented sign of Cancer, we had the simultaneous re-opening of two famous crimes against children: the Madeleine McCann kidnapping and the JonBenet Ramsey murder. And on the heels of the NSA spying scandal, European leaders got together to re-affirm kinship ties with the U.S., but insisted that “trust has to be restored and reinforced.”
Regarding NSA’s tapping of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s cell phone and other over-reaches in the European theater, one reader noted that this scandal “supports your belief that the USA has a Scorpio Ascendant.” Yes, the unrestrained intelligence ops are characteristic of a nation guided by the Scorpio archetype far more than the bluntly honest Sagittarius archetype. With Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, it’s a good time for astrologers to reconsider the issue of the national horoscope.
JFK Fifty Years Later
Fifty years after President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, his legacy remains shrouded in mystery. Some 40,000 books have been written about the charismatic president, and this anniversary year has brought another massive outpouring. As the new revelations, tales of his womanizing, and endless speculations emerge over the coming month, it’s a good time to revisit his horoscope, set for May 29, 1917 (3:00 pm; Brookline, MA).
JFK’s Sun at 8º Gemini is closely aligned with the Royal Star Aldebaran, which offers the potential for glory, success and happiness. However, as Bernadette Brady describes in her Book of Fixed Stars, any greatness achieved can be lost suddenly if the individual does not live with integrity and honor. JFK’s assassination suggests that he failed this challenge somewhere along the way.
With Saturn conjunct his Midheaven in the family-oriented sign of Cancer, JFK had a patrician start in life through the success of his father. Saturn here is located exactly opposite the U.S. Pluto at 27º Capricorn, the planet that rules the U.S. Scorpio Rising chart. On July 20, 1963 a total Solar Eclipse took place at 27º Cancer, hitting the U.S. Pluto and landing right on JFK’s Saturn, the symbol of his earthly power.
The emerging archetype Black Moon Lilith played a key role in JFK’s assassination. In the July 20 eclipse chart, Lilith is at 10º Scorpio, where she conjoins the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant, and casts a dark shadow over the country. On November 22, 1963 when Kennedy was shot, his progressed Ascendant was at 24º Scorpio and activated by transiting Lilith, also at 24º Scorpio. His progressed Sun had just reached his Midheaven, signifying that he went out at the peak of his fame.
DWTS’ Elizabeth Berkley
Scores a Perfect 30
Among this season’s Dancing with the Stars possible winners are several with odd body sizes and shapes. Frontrunner Amber Riley demonstrates exceptional musicality and agility despite her large size, while the petite Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi is showing rapid improvement from one week to the next. But the season’s first perfect score went to the 5’10” Elizabeth Berkley for her “sexy” and “brilliant” cha-cha.
Berkley was born with her Sun in the drama-queen sign of Leo (July 28, 1972; Farmington Hills, Michigan; time unknown), where it trines Neptune, giving her grace and an interest in film and fantasy. Her Venus in Gemini is harmoniously related to Mars in Leo, adding sex appeal. But Venus also squares Pluto and opposes Jupiter, a configuration that offers moral challenges to her sexuality.
Berkley got her first big film role in the 1995 cult classic Showgirls, which almost ended her career due to its risqué themes and visuals. At the time, her progressed Venus was entering into a square with her natal Juno-Uranus, spiking her film performance with an unusual -- some would say shocking -- display of sexuality. Now her progressed Venus is at 29º Cancer and is forming an exact (to-the-minute) sextile to natal Pluto.
With this more harmonious progressed Venus placement, she’s able to express herself in a way that doesn’t offend, but rather motivates and entertains. Some critics say that the 41-year-old actress is channeling her inner Showgirls persona, but with her progressed New Moon recently landing on her Ceres, Berkley is focused on being a mother. However, with next year’s Uranus-Pluto square aligning with her natal Juno-Uranus, one might wonder if her marriage can survive her rekindled celebrity status.
