"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

re: Global Warming - Hi, I clicked several times on 'Science' but was told that it was in error. I'd like to read the article.
A. I apologize about the broken link. It was to an L.A. Times article explaining the Science article in plain English. Here it is again: climate-warming
re: Pope Francis - I wanted to point out that there are THREE St. Francis's: St. Francis de Sales being the third. HIS life's work also coincides with Francis I's ideas, I think: From Wikipedia: Francis de Sales, (21 August 1567 – 28 December 1622) was a Bishop of Geneva and is honored as a saint in the Roman Catholic Church. He became noted for his deep faith and his gentle approach to the religious divisions in his land resulting from the Protestant Reformation.
Keep up the good work, tho I am really sick and tired of the ongoing power and influence that the forces that hold back our moving forthrightly into the New Age, are still so much in control, as your recent comments said... :-(
re: NeptuneCafe - Just wanted to say that I'm really impressed with this site. I've studied astrology since I was little ( a long time ago) and for the last 6 years or so, intensively, with Noel Tyl.
So I'm sure I've been aware of The Neptune Cafe, but hadn't referenced it. But today, I got interested in Ceres because I noticed it was aspecting Pluto in a horary I set up and so in making a query I ran across your site. Wonderful work! A real resource for anyone wanting to learn Astrology, which I believe is really a soul endeavor. So you're doing God's work !!
re: Pluto in Leo generation - How is the Pluto in Capricorn going to affect the people who have the Uranus Pluto conjunction in Virgo? I saw the article Donna Cunningham did on the Pluto in Leo generation.
re: Reeva Steencamp - So if we knew her birth time, would it be easier to see something definitive, death-wise? You are being clear enough. But golly, these transits touch a lot of people and they don't die. Everyone born the same day as she was, for instance, didn't die when she did. You've talked, in the past, about the nodes being involved when someone dies, too.
A. Her choice to be with Oscar Pistorius creates another perspective of her life, and that's how her planets interact with his. The martial influences are overwhelming, and they exacerbate her own Mars-Juno square.
re: Monsanto - I am on your site several times a week to glean your astrological insights into current events and personalities and find your analysis very insightful. I just read an article on the Yahoo Financial page where Monsanto is suing a 75 year old grain farmer from Indiana, Vernon Bowman for $84,456. claiming he is using seeds that were developed by Monsanto and not signing the patent protection agreement which Monsanto closely guards.... The case is now going to the Supreme Court. I am wondering if you could run a chart on Monsanto and share your insights into this upcoming case.
re: Pope Benedict - I just read your column on Pope Benedict XVI's announcement from earlier this week, and thought you might enjoy a photo of lightning striking Saint Peter's Basilica within hours of Pope Benedict's declaration that he was resigning as Pope: http://www.bibleprobe.com/last10popes.htm
re: NewsScope - thank you for your weekly NewsScope. Your writings are very lucid and enjoyable.
Iraq's dinar - Love your weekly review. I want to ask about a curious currency issue that seems to be blooming. I am sure your readers would enjoy your take on the timing of this event when the Iraqi Dinar rises in value. Just in the last 2 weeks another major oil deposit was discovered
not to mention that their gold reserves have had a major increase... so if they can get their act together... how do you see this as to timing for investors?
re: Keth Urban - I read the page on Mariah as America's Favorite Diva and noted her work on American Idol. Actually, the person getting a lot of press is country singer Keith Urban, also on AI. He's an interesting character who's made real inroads in his career due to his work on Australia's The Voice show and now AI. Both transiting Mars and Neptune now trine his natal Sun, adding to the showbiz/glamour factor. But it's tr. Pluto that's interesting to study: it's opposite his Asc--nearly exact right now. I think his would be an interesting chart to investigate!
re: Tim Cooks' birth time - I wonder why in the US nobody has raised the question that the law does not allow access to birth certificate records, how is it possible? Here in Italy it is not so. Which privacy is there to protect? One has the right to know when someone is born or not??? The scientists should be in favour of the publicity of birth times, so they can continue to debunk the astrologers!!! Or, keeping concealed birth times is a way to impede the general public in knowing many things regarding public figures, politicians etc. This is against the right to know!
You american astrologers should start a campaign for this, in my opinion!
re: Lance Armstrong - What are your feelings about Lance Armstrong’s confession to Oprah and did he really tell the truth about everything?
Inauguration - I've always read about how if the President is sworn in during a moon void of course that he will have trouble being effective during his term, and that this was the case for Obama last term. I have just read that he was privately sworn in at 11:55am EST, just *before* the moon void! Any thoughts for your column? As a Dem, I'm thrilled to see this, and hope this will empower the Prez to route those untoward Republicans, who just sit on their hands, seemingly out of spite or racism or craziness.
Thanks! I look forward to your column and your pages every week.
A. The Inauguration chart, set for noon, was posted and described in NewsScope's December 31, 2012 issue. The Moon makes one final square to Mars before going void of course, which does in deed push Obama into action.
re: Salopek - I enjoyed reading about Paul Salopek, mostly because my best friend's birthday is also Feb 9, 1962. She's one of the Aqua-stells as well. Her stellium falls in her 4th house though so she's all about her family, and her challenges lately have been about teenagers!
A. That week in February 1962 has some notoriety, since psychic Jeanne Dixon predicted that the "anti-Christ" would be born during the New Moon on February 4, 1962. Later, she changed her mind and said it would be the second coming of Jesus. Sheryl Crowe was born on February 11, 1962, Jennifer Jason Leigh was born on febraury 5, 1962, and King Abdullah II of Jordan was born on January 30, 1962.

"Thank you very much, you answered all of my questions and offered me great insight into my life and any future issues as well as potential issues that may arise. Your reading was phenomenal!"
Last Tuesday (March 12), the Moon and Mars entered Aries simultaneously, providing a refreshing surge of energy and elation akin to the exuberant awakening of Mother Nature in early spring. With five planets still in Pisces, much of the excitement was about spiritual matters. The most publicized example was the selection of Pope Francis, a humble priest who wants to renew the faith of 1.2 billion Catholics.
In the world of science, quantum physicists euphorically announced that they have discovered the elusive Higgs boson, more popularly referred to as the “God particle”. On Wall Street, where money is sacred, the Dow reached a succession of new highs, topping off at 14,539. And the most exciting theatrical run, The Book of Mormon, was selling so many tickets that it crashed the computers at the Kennedy Center.
On March 20, the Sun enters Aries, officially kicking off the first day of spring. While this astro-event is generally seen as a stimulating, rousing time to clean out the cobwebs and start new projects, other developments suggest that caution is setting in. The most telling of these is that transiting Jupiter and Saturn will be forming a quincunx on March 23, which has a dampening effect on irrational exuberance.
This coming week transiting Mars in Aries is entering the Uranus-Pluto square, and will also activate the Jupiter-Saturn quincunx. For most people, Mars here is bound to foster a busy, event-filled life chapter lasting through the Full Moon on March 27. For those with important placements in 8º to 11º of any sign, you will be most impacted by these alignments. Mars in this highly energized phase may bring upsets, accidents and ego conflicts on the domestic scene, and in international hotspots, explosive violence, confrontations and ultimatums.
Pope Francis Champions Social Justice
When Cardinal Bergoglio took the name Francis upon becoming pope, he was evoking not only St. Francis of Assisi, but also St. Francis Xavier, the founder of the Jesuit movement. Francis of Assisi’s vows of poverty and chastity in the 12th century and the zealous missionary movement of Francis Xavier during the 16th century both had the effect of renewing the Catholic Church during troubled times.
Pope Francis was born with his Sagittarius Sun opposite Chiron (December 17, 1936; Buenos Aires, Argentina; time unknown), a polarity that bestows a restless intellectualism and a gallant quest to spread the truth as he sees it. The Sun and Chiron square a Saturn-Neptune opposition, which brings in issues of faith, so he is constantly addressing other people’s lack of religious conviction. These four planets create a Mutable Grand Cross, which tilts the life’s purpose toward mental and spiritual pursuits.
The pope’s Moon and Venus are in egalitarian Aquarius, a combination which tends to champion social justice. His Moon-Venus squares Uranus, making him a revolutionary in this regard. His fraternizing with ordinary citizens has set tongues wagging within the regal setting of the Vatican, while many commentators are setting him up as the People’s Pope.
Curiously, his Moon-Venus also squares Black Moon Lilith at 8º Scorpio, which happens to coincide with the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. As someone who has spoken out against the ungodly advantages held by the super-rich, Pope Francis might very well see the U.S. as the bastion of predator capitalism. After all, one usually projects the unrecognized, shadowy side of consciousness onto others, so Pope Francis may see the U.S. corporatocracy as the evil personification of his own Lilith. He was selected as transiting Lilith was right on his Chiron, suggesting that he has come to heal the Lilith wounds.
Ryan Seacrest and Julianne Hough
The ubiquitous Ryan Seacrest, who gleefully reveals the latest celebrity gossip on his nationally syndicated radio show, was himself the subject of the chattering classes last week when People magazine reported that he and girlfriend Julianne Hough have decided to call it quits. Although they both have busy schedules, they managed to make a go of it for nearly three years.
Ryan Seacrest was born with a Sun-Vesta conjunction in ambitious Capricorn (December 24, 1974; Dunwoody, GA; time unknown), a combination that often brings intense focus on expressing one’s special talent. In Ryan’s case, his Mercury is also involved, so that he has become a skilled communicator in radio, TV and hosting live events. His Sun-Vesta-Mercury squares Pluto, which has pushed him to become a media mogul.
Ryan’s Venus is also in Capricorn and opposes Saturn, a combination that often means business before pleasure. In comparing his chart to Julianne Hough’s (b. July 20, 1988), there are no strong indicators for sexual compatibility. To the contrary, her Mercury in Cancer conjoins his Saturn, which points to communication problems, especially about family. The Saturn individual just doesn’t hear or understand the Mercury person.
The closest connection they have is that both were born with Pallas in mid-Aquarius. Pallas in the networking, friendship sign of Aquarius shows that Ryan and Julianne enhanced each other’s social reach as a “cute couple”. This interpretation is confirmed by the timing of their split. Transiting Saturn in Scorpio (the “love tester”) was exactly squaring Ryan’s Pallas last week. In Julianne’s chart, transiting Saturn was squaring her progressed Pallas and quincunx her progressed Mars, indicating that she feels frustrated by their inability to connect in a deeper, more meaningful way.
Here's two glimpses of Ryan's and Julianne's intra-aspects: his Saturn conjoins her Mercury, and they both have Pallas in mid-Aquarius.
