re: Election day snafus - Or the infamous computer hacking/vote tampering that SURELY went on in the past 2 elections! There was even an Ohio court case brought, and Karl Rove was heavily implicated, along with an Ohio IT guy whose private plane, with him piloting, went down on his way back from D.C. after supposedly telling the Bush PTB that he would testify about the vote manipulation. Does Mars have anything to do with stuff like this? "Computer wars" or something? ;-)
re: Meditations for Obama - I too am psychic and do healing meditations for people. Can continuing meditations, surrounding Obama with light help protect him from all the negativity surrounding him and help him get re-elected?
re: U.S. empire - Love your work, to me you are the best in the field. I wonder though why not one astrologer has written about the end of the time as World-power for the USA. Brittain held it for over 300 years. Spain ruled the world for awhile and who can forget Rome. But not one held it past a certain time. Maybe the USA will hunker down and do what it does best, do the Phoenix-Thing. The crowning achievement of any Scorpio! But what do you think? Believing in a Scorpio ascendent, Pluto coming full circle migjht make it happen. Thanks for all the interesting work you do, I have learned a lot.
re: the Venus occultation - In your recent columns you have been repeating the same mistake that I and others have been making: that Venus is occulting the Sun this June. This is a Venus transit of the Sun, not an occultation, according to Wikipedia's definition. This makes sense when you think about the meaning of the word "occult," which implies hidden. Venus is too small to hide much of the Sun.
re: the Venus occultation - You mentioned Venus' occultation of the sun in your recent Newscope article, and it got me thinking. What does this signature mean for someone born under it? My son was born during the last Venus occultation, and as he approaches his 8th birthday this Venus occultation will make a "return" of sorts. Is his life destined to be marked in some way by this rare Venus event? And will the upcoming Venus return mean anything significant for him?
A. I don't imagine the Venus occultation in itself will be especially significant for an 8-year old. However, if you're concerned, you should get a reading for your son to get the whole picture. The activation of a boy's Sun is often expressed by events in his father's life.
re: UR-PL square - I was reading your article about austerity measures and the effect that the Pluto Uranus square is having on different countries. I live in Canada, so I was wondering what powerful things would be happening when Pluto and Uranus hit our Sun. Well.....I just noticed that Pluto has already just opposed our Sun Uranus conjunction at 8.5 Cancer right on the IC! I had no idea, and I also have no idea what happened to symbolize that. (Canada's chart is July 1, 1867 NS 0:00 am LMT Ottawa, Canada). The typical recession stuff maybe. Uranus is within one degree of it right now.

Well, almost one million signatures were collected for his recall and now the date of June 5, 2012 is set for the election. Could you please give us your insight on what might be the results of this election as it is only the third recall of a Governor in U.S. history and the world is watching! This election is touted "the second most important political race." The protests and marches in Madison, Wi. made not only national but international news.

Part Two: Who Will Win,
Obama or Romney?
Fortunately, following a malicious cyber-attack last week, the local computer technicians were able to restore things back to normal. While my computer was in the shop getting repaired, many questions arose about last week's column on the presidential campaign's outcome.
Primarily, readers asked, why determine the outcome by the January 20, 2013 inauguration instead of the November 6, 2012 election? The problem on Election Day is that Mercury is turning retrograde, and astrologically savvy politicos know that the last time this happened in 2000, irregularities surrounding the counting of the Florida votes threw the election to the Supreme Court. This leaves open the possibility that something similar could happen this coming November.
Note that Neptune, the planet of confusion and uncertainty, is also making its station, and Mars at 22º Sagittarius is at a critical degree: it's squaring Romney's Sun, Obama's Mars, and opposing the U.S. Mars. This indicates a heated conflict or dispute in the days right around the election. Perhaps the electoral tally will tie at 269-269, or perhaps we'll see more voting snafus that leave the courts to determine the outcome. Perhaps Mars's position points to a physical attack or military incident that complicates the process.
Inauguration Day
To verify what the signals seem to be saying on Election day, I compared the conditions of each candidate's chart on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2013. Looking at Obama's chart, the planetary flags are surprisingly few. There are zero progressions involving his Midheaven, while his progressed Pluto at 8º Virgo squares his 10th house Part of Fortune at 8º Sagittarius. That's not good. The transiting Sun at 0º Aquarius conjoins his natal Jupiter, so that he will be a presence on Inauguration Day. Note that transiting Mercury at 2º Aquarius is exactly opposite his natal Mercury. This looks to me like a hand off to his successor.
In contrast, Romney's chart looks like gold. As described last week, his progressed Midheaven at 11º15' Aries closely trines his natal Pluto (orb: 0º06'), which describes a once-in-a-lifetime personal empowerment. His progressed Part of Fortune at 17º Gemini conjoins Uranus, the ruler of his Midheaven. Transiting Jupiter and Uranus are favorably aspecting his Midheaven, a lucky combination that often brings fame, celebrity and honors.
Essentially, one may determine that either Obama or Romney will win by looking at the conditions around Election Day. However, many political astrologers - perhaps 80 percent - have an inherent bias toward the progressive movement, and thus turn a blind eye to a possible Republican win. Factor in that Mercury is turning retrograde and it's best to confirm a possible Romney victory by checking the conditions of each candidate's Midheaven on Inauguration day. Then, a much clearer picture emerges.
Determining a Winner on Election Day
To judge an individual's chance of winning a contest, look to the Midheaven and its conditions. This includes major transits or progressions to the Midheaven or the planet that rules the Midheaven. It also includes major transits to the progressed Midheaven, and any progressed planet to the Midheaven. One may also consider the condition of any planets in the tenth house.
In the national campaign, the winning candidate should also have close ties to the U.S. chart. If you agree that the U.S. has Scorpio Rising, then you probably have seen the relevance of the Moon at 25º Aquarius. On Election Day, Romney's progressed Sun is at 25º31' Taurus, only 0º03' from squaring the U.S. Moon. The square from his progressed Taurus Sun denotes the economic changes he plans on bringing. Natally, Obama has Vesta, Saturn and Uranus all at 25º, so he is inherently a solid candidate in any national race. Plus, transiting Pluto will be trine his natal Pluto, the ruler of his Midheaven. One could go through the pluses and minuses of each candidate on Election Day, but it's a wash, difficult to say which one is truly favored.
It was different in the 2008 election. Obama's chart depicted a clear winner using the indicators listed above. Obama became an electrifying presence due to a progressed Venus-Uranus conjunction. This combination squared his Midheaven, bringing the dynamic change that the country wanted at the time. Also, his progressed Sun at 28º Virgo was sextile his Midheaven, while his progressed Midheaven was
octile his Midheaven. That's three unique and simultaneous activations of his Midheaven on Election Day 2008.
The picture changes in 2012, when Obama has no progressed or outer planet transits to his Midheaven. However, with transiting Pluto trine natal Pluto, the ruler of his Midheaven, there is some hope. Plus, his progressed Mars at 25º Libra does trine the U.S. Moon, although it's 1/4 degree past and waning in influence. Oddly enough, when progressing the U.S. chart to November 6, 2012, one finds that the progressed Part of Fortune is at 7º Pisces right next to the progressed Sun, also at 7º Pisces. Might not this indicate a Pisces will win?
