"The natal chart is like a seed and progressions are the unfolding in time of that into the plant it is to become. Transits, are like a daily weather report. In political astrology, these three factors have to be taken into account!"

re: Trayvon - I would like to see something about Trayvon Martin in your column. This young man's spirit has alerted the whole world...What is your astrological view?

re: My Lai - As a long time reader of your weekly columns, I was struck over the weekend with a comparison of the tragedy in Afghanistan last week, and one nearly exactly 44 years ago...the My Lai massacre.  A few media reports have mentioned My Lai, but I wonder if you might include a comparison/discussion of the planetary activity between the two events in a column someday.  It is stunning that My Lai happened on March 16th, 1968, so close to this recent event, even though the scale of deaths is quite different.

re: Obama - Psychic Joseph Tittel has the following (below) on his blog and thought you might consider a "peek" at President Obama's chart regarding his health or physical safety, and the comment below might be related to a basketball injury, or something similar.

I see President Obama waving out a hospital window giving thumbs up. So something is going to occur in early 2012 that sends the president to the hospital. Seems to be a big news story with some jokes revolved around it on an SNL skit, which also may cause a little bit of controversy.

re: yoga - "America has become Indianized" - good point!

re: NewsScope - Thank you so much.  You do wonderful work, and I consider it an education.

re: Reagan - I thought President Reagan died on June 5, 2004.  This week's NewScope column has a different date.

A. "when Ronald Reagan died" was meant to describe a time frame, so a ballpark figure within 3 days of the Venus occultation.

re: Whitney - I thought yours a lovely tribute to Whitney Houston and the title so appropriate. The article didn't condescend; it didn't overextend. But most important, it kept the focus on Whitney, rather than her dire relationship with B. Brown. She was a part of our family, in that we all were so much younger then, listening to this 19 year-old with a wonder voice. Thank you, Sir Michael!

re: NewsScope - You've got everything in the column this week: Pluto, money, international intrigue, and undersea UFOs. I wonder if the vast UFO coverup folks are going to be at work. Finding a UFO would upset the whole religious kittycart. Or it should. Well, except the scientologists.

re: Antares - Good column this week. Thank you.
I wanted to mention that USA Uranus is not conjunct bloodthirsty Antares but is in opposition to it (8 Sagittarius). It is, however, conjunct Aldebaran, which is associated with honor and integrity but also with warmongering. The USA's Uranus's opposition to Antares in relation to
the growing transiting Uranus-Pluto square (first one exact this June), could signal violence from and against the many who stand with the OCCUPY movement. Uranus can escalate through tactics of anarchy on location as well as through continued hacktivism behind the safety of a computer screen. Adding the election silly season and the brinksmanship of Israel, Iran and Syria to the mix, I believe we're heading for a long hot summer.

The Afghanistan War Chart

As the culture clash between American soldiers and Afghanistan’s citizens worsens, an increasing number of Americans (now 57 percent) believe that the war should be ended ASAP. President Karzai recently branded Americans as “occupying demons” who commit “satanic acts”. On the other hand, many Afghans and Americans alike worry that a quick withdrawal will lead to a renewal of Taliban-sponsored terrorist cells.
* Timed for the beginning of Operation Enduring Freedom, which began, as President George W. Bush announced to the American public, “on my order”. The bombs hit Kabul at 5:20 pm BST, according to the Guardian’s timeline: guardian.co.uk/afghanistan

The 5:20 pm time is pushed back five minutes to allow for the interval between Bush’s “go” signal, the launching of the missiles, and their arrival in Kabul. This places the Ascendant at 17º Gemini, which coincides with Bush’s progressed Midheaven-North Node conjunction.
The horoscope* for the Afghanistan War (October 7, 2001; 5:15 pm BST; Kabul, Afghanistan) features the Libra Sun squaring Mars on one side and Jupiter on the other, a configuration clearly denoting a partnership engaged in military adventurism. Saturn is retrograde near the Gemini Ascendant, and Mercury – the chart’s ruling planet – is also retrograde, suggesting the many setbacks, shifting objectives, delays, and other snafus that have besieged the overall effort.

This chart can be used to track developments and make forecasts. For example, Osama bin Laden was killed on May 1, 2011 when transiting Mars, Jupiter and Eris were all conjunct at 22º Aries. The AW’s progressed Mars at 22º Capricorn was being squared by that triple conjunction. Most recently, the massacre committed by Sargent Robert Bales underscores the AW Moon as a sign of extreme emotional stress, since it conjoins Saturn and opposes Pluto.
The AW Moon is also a symbol of an endangered civilian population. On March 11, when the war crime was committed, transiting Saturn at 28º Libra was exactly trioctile the AW Moon. The culture clash is bound to worsen over the coming years, since progressed Pluto is only 0º06’ from opposing the natal Moon and getting tighter. We can expect matters to become explosively volatile when transiting Uranus and Pluto align with the AW Sun-Mars-Jupiter beginning in 2014.
Top Five Astro-Events for April

1. The Sun octiles Venus on the 10th, but is within orb from the 1st through 15th. This peace-loving, affectionate combination enhances all romantic relationships. After Venus enters Gemini on the 4th, travel is favored, but some lovebirds will have more than one paramour to court. For many, professional needs compete with playtime, especially from the 7th-10th when the Sun and Vesta are conjunct.

2. Mars turns direct on the 13th. From now until July 3, Mars completes the last phase of its extended passage through Virgo, offering an improved jobs picture since Mars will form favorable connections to Ceres, Jupiter, and Pluto. This is a good time to begin a variety of new tasks or projects, especially a health regimen involving exercise and diet changes.

3. Uranus squares the U.S. Jupiter on the 18th, providing a cosmic stimulus to economic growth. Watch for some huge mergers and acquisitions involving America’s wealthiest corporations. Some of the piles of cash held by financial institutions will likely be re-deployed around this time. We can also expect an awakening of the Occupy movement and renewed clashes with the reigning one percent.

4. The New Moon on the 21st conjoins Ceres in Taurus, offering an excellent window of opportunity for financial planning. The New Moon is also favorably trine Mars, so that practical actions taken now have a better chance of providing long-term security than at most any other time. Explore real estate, dividend-paying stocks, and other safe investments for your best options.

5. Mars squares Juno on the 25th, but is within range from the 16th through the end of the month. Mars in Virgo fights for what it believes is proper behavior, while Juno in Sagittarius can be more of a free spirit. This harsh combination can lead to jealousy, extreme anger, fights about loyalty, and conflict over where to draw the line.
The producers of The Hunger Games said that at least 30 actresses were considered for the coveted role of Katniss, the skilled hunter who sparks a revolution against the oppressive Capitol. The author of the best-selling trilogy, Suzanne Collins, said that her protagonist had to have “a certain maturity and power” and that Jennifer Lawrence was the only one who truly captured that character.
Jennifer Lawrence, Star of The Hunger Games
Jennifer Lawrence was born with her Sun in dramatic Leo (August 15, 1990; Louisville, KY; time unknown), where it squares Mars on one side and Pluto on the other. This warrior-like T-square provides her with all the survival skills that come across in the film, giving her courage, stealth, speed and wits to take on her enemies. The Sun quincunx Saturn adds a noticeable level of maturity and responsibility.

In the spring of 2004, Jennifer realized she wanted to be an actor, and traveled with her mother to New York to set up some auditions. Agents and producers were immediately impressed, even though she had never taken any acting lessons. At the time, her progressed Sun was trine natal Uranus, and transiting Uranus opposed her progressed Sun – a double Sun-Uranus combo that kick-started a unique career path.
Oddly enough, Jennifer’s Diana – the asteroid depicting an archer goddess who roams the woods hunting game – has progressed to 5º Libra where it forms a perfect square to her Uranus. Jennifer was picked for the part of Katniss and filming was conducted as transiting Pluto conjoined her Uranus and squared her progressed Diana. Then, The Hunger Games premiered last weekend as an electric Sun-Uranus conjunction in Aries activated this configuration. Jennifer Lawrence is the personification of the mythological Goddess of the Hunt, Diana.
