re: Facebook - Any thoughts on the Facebook IPO flop and the connection Venus retrograde? I'd love to read about that on your Neptune Cafe blog.
re: Scott Walker - Who will win Wisconsin's Recall Election June 5th, Walker or Barrett?
re: Scott Walker - Last November 20th I wrote asking you to give your insight on the recall election of our Governor Scott Walker but you chose not to respond. Well, almost one million signatures were collected for his recall and now the date of June 5, 2012 is set for the election. Could you please give us your insight on what might be the results of this election as it is only the third recall of a Governor in U.S. history and the world is watching! This election is touted "the second most important political race." The protests and marches in Madison, Wi. made not only national but international news.
re: Michelle Obama - I was wondering about M Obama's ASC recently. Sag fits lookswise. And I like her fashion sense: it's bold but elegant and it shows a woman who is not afraid. I haven't cast their composite with your rectified time for her. But I have wondered about their composite as well. They have a lot of presence individually but as a couple they just dominate the scene. Everyone, the Queen of UK, the French PM and his very lovely wife fade before them.
re: Michelle Obama - Thanks for the rectified chart for Michelle Obama. I especially like Jupiter in Aries as her ruling planet--the pioneer theme is clear in her life. She's an attorney, an African-American, and the first lady. Pioneering is a major theme in her life.
re: Part of Misfortune - Okay, please say more about the Part of Misfortune. I don't remember ever hearing the Part of Fortune called that. Your quote: Transiting Neptune conjunct the USSS Part of Misfortune shows an unmitigated scandal.
A. The Part of Misfortune is the same as the Part of Fortune except that it's badly placed or aspected. I first came across this term in Ivy Goldstein-Jacobson's book Simplified Horary Astrology. She writes that "The Part of Fortune becomes the Part of Mis-fortune when afflicted by being in the unfortunate 12th or 8th house or in the 12th sign Pisces or the 8th sign Scorpio". She goes on to refine the definition so that when the Part of Fortune is badly aspecting Mars, Neptune or in the 29th degree of any sign, or the same degree as the nodes, it becomes the Part of Misfortune. Presumably, one could add hard aspects from Pluto.
re:Ann Romney - I liked your chart for Ann Romney. I know it's your rectification but it seems correct. It also looks like the chart of someone whose husband is a winner in November. But we don't have a timed chart, that I know of, for Michelle Obama. Have you got a timed or rectified chart for her? If so, could you post it?
re: Bobby Petrino - It would be interesting to those of us who are College Football Fans to know the "astrology" surrounding the recent firing of Coach Bobby Petrino, the football coach at the UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS. Coach Petrino has had a "history" of deceit, and "baring false witness". Although as a football coach, he's definitely a "winner". I believe it might make a good and interesting astrological piece for NewsScope as there's an interesting mixture of "human" failures and success all present in this one person.
re: Sumatra earthquake - Well, you called it. You said in your Cascadia earthquake article that the April 6th Full Moon was a trigger date, and now we have Indonesia. Does one consider Indonesia in the 'ring of fire?'

FB’s IPO
Trading on Facebook’s much hyped IPO (May 18, 2012; 11:30 am; New York, NY) was delayed due to the glitches resulting from the sheer volume. Some 63 million shares traded in the first 30 seconds, which pushed the offering price from $38/share to $45/share. Unfortunately for its backers, the IPO was launched during a severe market downdraft, and FB settled at a disappointing $38.
* Greece’s chart and economic forecast were last described in June 2011
For background info on austerity and Greece’s role in the EU, see Paul Krugman's op-ed
* Mark Zuckerberg’s birth time is unknown. A 2:04 am speculative time was first proposed in October 2011
Several NewsScope readers have requested a forecast on Scott Walker’s recall election scheduled for June 5, 2012. “Could you please give us your insight into what might be the result of this election as it is only the third recall of a governor in U.S. history and the world is watching!” Walker’s opponent is Tom Barrett, the mayor of Milwaukee, and polls indicate an extremely tight race.
Astrologically, the delay was significant since it placed 16º Leo on FB’s Ascendant, a critical degree because it corresponds to the U.S. horoscope’s Midheaven. In turn, FB’s several Taurus planets near its own Midheaven (with Vesta – associated with investments – at 8º Taurus) align with the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. Facebook’s $104 billion valuation makes it the highest IPO in the U.S., so naturally it should have key placements aligned with the national chart.
FB’s Sun-Jupiter conjunction in Taurus is among the best combinations for creating a stable, profitable corporation. However, Venus is retrograde and Mars opposes Chiron in the money houses; these combinations suggest FB’s extremely high price-to-earnings ratio of 100. Still, Venus trines Saturn, and Mars is involved in a tight Earth Grand trine (connecting Pluto, Vesta and the MC). The long term prospects are good, especially if FB managers can leverage their cash with key acquisitions.
Mark Zuckerberg’s horoscope (May 14, 1984; 2:04 am*; White Plains, NY) was under major activation, most notably, with FB’s Jupiter conjunct his Taurus Sun. The monetization of his company established his net worth at $19.1 billion, making him the 29th wealthiest individual on the planet. Although his birth time is speculative, note that his progressed Midheaven at 7º Capricorn is now being conjoined by transiting Pluto, and precisely squared by transiting Uranus, the ruler of his chart.
When Will Greece Leave the Eurozone?
One clear manifestation of oppressive Pluto in tightfisted Capricorn is becoming widely known as “austerity”, which is the financial deal to cut government spending in exchange for much needed cash. Relentlessly enforced by Germany and the European Central Bank, austerity measures have brought down eight of 17 eurozone governments over the last two years, and continue to agitate global markets.
Nowhere has the Plutonian pressure been more severely applied than in Greece* (July 24, 1974; 4:00 am; Athens), where voters have repeatedly turned out the political parties who agreed to the austerity measures, which have in turn reduced pensions, created 22 percent unemployment, and a host of other financial hardships. As the Uranus-Pluto square tightens up over the coming month, Greek voters must once again choose a government to mediate between the bankers and the people.
Naturally, the Uranus-Pluto square has been hitting key points in Greece’s chart over the past two years, and will continue to do so over the next two years. New elections are scheduled for June 17, when transiting Uranus and Pluto will be only 1/4º apart. A related problem is that by secondary progression Venus is now forming an octile to the natal Moon-Pluto conjunction, which has brought an escalating run on the banks.
Last week, German Chancellor Angela Merkel suggested that the Greeks add a referendum to their elections on whether they want to remain in the European Union. Greece joined the EU on January 1, 1981 when an exact Jupiter-Saturn conjunction at 9º Libra squared Greece’s Mercury-Saturn conjunction near its Cancer Ascendant. That formative event is now under threat from the current transiting Uranus-Pluto square which is activating the exact same degree area.
This biwheel sections shows Greece's secondary progressions on the outer wheel, with the natal on inside
Scott Walker’s horoscope features a Sun-Mercury conjunction in polarizing Scorpio (November 2, 1967; Colorado Springs, CO; time unknown***), where it is closely conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. This personal connection to the national horoscope has made his political program a national affair. At the center of his over-zealous efforts to cut back spending is his Mars-Saturn square, which tends to push too hard and too fast.
The epochal Uranus-Pluto square is aligning with Walker’s Mars-Saturn square, putting him at the center of a national controversy. Walker’s Mars is buoyed by a sextile to Mercury and trines to Pallas and Jupiter in Virgo. The favorable Pallas-Jupiter combination in practical Virgo has brought him $25 million in campaign donations, at least 2/3 of which has come from out-of-state benefactors like the conservative Koch brothers.
The June 5 date is astrologically extraordinary because of a rare Venus occultation of the Sun at 15º Gemini. This astro-event is considered unfavorable for any politician with key planets in this degree area. Tom Barrett (December 8, 1953) has his Sun at 16º Sagittarius, and his progressed Jupiter at 16º Gemini. With Walker’s sizeable financial advantage and Barrett’s Sun-Jupiter being eclipsed by Venus, it seems most likely that Walker will win.
