re: Neptune - You were obviously on-the-money as to Neptune playing a pivotal role in the 2012 presidential election.Superstorm Sandy’s massive devastation on the eastern seaboard may well affect an individual’s ability to get to a polling place and vote.
re: voting irregularities - It looks like you're pointing out that the Republicans are going to rig the elections, just like in 2000. "Irregularities" is a euphemism for electoral fraud, discrepancies between the real vote and the vote tallies.There's definitely people who are disillusioned with Obama, but there probably won't be enough people who switch their vote to Romney for him to win fairly.
re: Ohio - Very interesting observation about Ohio and Neptune...One possibility is the this eclipse activates the 350,000 evangelical voters that stayed home in 2008.
re: Queen Elizabeth II - Well summarised (as usual) vis a vis the Queen. I have been wondering about Prince Philip, and whether it will be curtains for him soon. I wondered if he was gong to make it through the Jubilee. There was some "endings" astrology around that too. Without him, I think she'd have quite a hard time getting through all that Royal rigmarole.
re: trioctile - You said in the Top Five Astro-Events Oct. 2012 that Jupiter and Saturn form a Trioctile... I was wondering if that Trioctile is the same as the Sesquisquare? Anyways... love your site... thanks.
A. yes, same thing - 165 degree aspect. And an octile is the same as a semisquare. I prefer the terms "octile" and "trioctile" because they're clearly aspects made by dividing the circle into eighths, while "sesquisquare" is such an archaic tongue-twister...
re: North Nodes & Chiron - With Obama's Chiron at 5 degrees of pisces in his 1st house (where it currently is by transit as well), is it that he one way or another - is his own undoing? The 15-year-old Freedom Fighter also has Chiron in the 1st. I hope to learn more about Chiron and the North node. Thanks so much for your articles. I eat them all up.
A. - Obama's Chiron Return is not an easy one since natally it's under stressful aspects to his Moon and Pluto. This in itself doesn't necessarily mean he will lose the election, but it doesn't help. As for Malala, the freedom fighter, her birth time is unknown, so we don't have the planets and North Node in the correct houses. A noon time is the default when time is unknown.

You are so very insightful in affirming (based on your astrology studies) that islamic extremism will only abate when women are empowered. So it has been for most religions, don't you think? re: Scorpio Rising - Long before I started reading your articles in Dell Horoscope magazine, I had always felt and assumed that Scorpio Rising was perfect to describe America because the motto on our Great Seal reveals it succinctly: Novus Ordo Seclorum---a New Order of the Ages. Indeed, America is all about order and control in the world as our hegemonic activities prove. Of course, the EAGLE symbol augments this! Sibley be damned!!!

re: Nobel Prize winners - Do you look at the transits, progressions, etc. for the moment when they receive the happy news from the Nobel committee, or for the moment when they actually receive the prize in Stockholm, Sweden? I would just want to look for the significators of great news about a great achievement and the public recognition that goes along with it.
A. Great news is often seen in great aspects to Mercury, planets in the third house, or the ruler of the third house. And when the career is involved or a sudden elevation in status, the Midheaven, ruler of the Midheaven, or planets in the 10th house will be favorably aspected. However, we can only know this if exact birth time is available. Jupiter's favorable aspect by transit is generally involved, since Jupiter is associated with honors. See Ben Affleck's chart in this week's column, for example.
re: ads - I realize advertisers pay for website ads in one shape or form and we all need income for our business. It is just that I was somewhat shocked to find an ad from the National Organization for Marriage on your site. I guess I would have expected it on many other sites which of course I won't patronize but again shocked to find it on yours. After finding this ad banner on your site and knowing the distortions and untruths this organization promulgates I will no longer be patronizing your site. Though maybe there is some logical explanation or reason that I am not aware of
for the ad being on your site and if so I would be interested to know that reason.
A. You're barking up the wrong tree. I do not have any ad agreement with National Organizastion for Marriage. If you saw such an ad on my site, it's because I do have google ads which post ads according to the visitor's web history. So look in the mirror to find out why you found that ad on my site. If you feel your web browsing history does not warrant such an ad, I can have it blocked. Just let me know. Personally, I have never seen this ad, and didn't know about it until you just told me.
re: Romney elected - Love your website & work... Just some food for thought here.... There are a few writings appearing at this point reflecting what Romney’s & his wife’s charts look in the future... hints of her being really unsettled... possible he won’t live a term putting Paul Ryan in the hot seat... I would be interesting to see your take on the long view if indeed Romney pulls it off... I have an uneasy feeling if Romney gets in things won’t be as he thinks in many area’s... any insight in a weekly review would be great...
A. My main concern at this point is Romney's progressed Mars, which at 27 Capricorn, is heading into a square with the U.S. Pluto. That's a very prominent war indicator. If he becomes the Commander-in-Chief, it likely won't be long before the U.S. is engaged in a major military conflict, and a potentially devastating one.

Neptune and Global Warming
Last week global warming suddenly became a hot issue* in the presidential campaign after spending the entire election season on the back burner. Was Superstorm Sandy the result of warmer ocean temperatures or just a random freak of nature? Obama picked up a key endorsement when he went to New York and visited Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who said that the devastation “should compel all elected leaders to take immediate action”.
Hurricane Sandy made landfall near Jersey City, NJ on October 29 (8:00 pm) just hours after the Full Moon. The tightest, most descriptive aspect in this chart is Mercury square Neptune, which emphasizes the confusion and disillusionment that Sandy brought to the eastern seaboard. Neptune here is at 0º Pisces and about to turn direct, while Mercury at 0º Sagittarius is about to turn retrograde.
Neptune, as the mythical ruler of the seas, is strong in its own sign Pisces, and will be here until it enters Aries in March 2025. Mercury, the messenger, is relaying Neptune’s theme, and as Mercury turns retrograde, may lead to much re-thinking about global warming and rising sea levels. Experts tell us that the sea level will rise 2 to 3 feet this century, which will increase the severity of storms and coastal flooding, and dramatically accelerate erosion.
Astrologers can learn from this incident. Neptune is at its most potent influence when making its retrograde or direct stations. Ocean-related disasters may arrive when other planets form hard angles to Neptune, and especially when Neptune is making its station. But Neptune’s influence is generally not immediately felt. Its action slowly but irrevocably dissolves infrastructure, like waves wearing away at seaside cliffs. Ocean levels may rise slowly, but it takes disasters to move politicians.
The Astrology of U.S. Hurricanes
While catastrophic storms seem to appear at random times, a few consistent astrological indicators may someday help predict their arrival. One such factor is the presence of outer planet aspects, which tend to bring incidents felt by large groups of people. Consider also the direct hits to the U.S. Scorpio Rising horoscope, especially to planets in the 8th house and the primary angles.
Mars, as the co-ruler of the Scorpio Ascendant, is particularly sensitive to major transits. Activation of this degree area can bring loss of life and property, as well as disruption of communication and transportation networks (in Gemini). Case in point: Hurricane Katrina, the most destructive catastrophe to wreck a metropolitan area, hit New Orleans on August 28, 2005 just as transiting Pluto opposed the U.S. Mars.
Hurricane Andrew, the costliest hurricane up to that time, made landfall in Florida on August 24, 1992. Transiting Pluto was in Scorpio, exactly one sign earlier than when it brought Hurricane Katrina, so that it formed a quincunx to the U.S. Mars. At the same time, a Chiron-Saturn opposition aligned with the U.S. Midheaven, transforming the Florida experience into an epic national disaster.
Last week, Hurricane Sandy arrived during the Full Moon in the Scorpio-Taurus polarity, which aligned with the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant. The Full Moon also formed a precise trioctile (135º aspect or sesquisquare) to the U.S. Mars (orb: 0º30’). At the same time, the transiting Uranus-Pluto square activated the U.S. Jupiter in the 8th house of insurance claims. Big money will be moving in Sandy’s wake. We can expect more superstorms over the next few years while this Uranus-Pluto square is in effect.
Taylor Swift, A National Treasure
The music industry is all abuzz about Taylor Swift’s fourth album Red, which sold 1.2 million copies in its opening week. Unlike Britney Spears, Taylor writes her own lyrics and continues to grow both personally and professionally. One reviewer called her the rarest of musical commodities: “A best-selling artist with quite a bit of integrity and an image that doesn’t focus on her general lack of clothing.”
Taylor Swift was born with her Sagittarius Sun and four other planets in the 5th house of entertainment (December 13, 1989; 8:46 pm*; Wyomissing, PA). Those four planets are in the business sign of Capricorn where they form a career-enhancing trine to her Taurus Midheaven. And with Mercury sandwiched between Uranus and Neptune, she has an irrepressible creative streak that finds expression as an authentic lyricist.
A Moon-Jupiter conjunction in Cancer reflects her close family connections and the support she received from them in helping her attain success. Jupiter is also aligned with Uranus, a combination often found in celebrities’ charts where success comes quickly. On October 24, 2006, when she released her first album, Jupiter and Uranus had progressed to 5º of their respective signs, where they activated her Midheaven at 5º Taurus. This configuration helps to verify this iffy birth time.
Taylor was born with Pluto in her 4th house squaring her Leo Ascendant and Lunar Node axis. In Evolutionary Astrology, this setup is often associated with catastrophic events. Taylor is evidently well aware of this influence, since she donates much of her time and money to help those affected by natural disasters such as tornadoes and flooding. Since her Pluto and Leo Ascendant perfectly align with the U.S. Leo Midheaven, she’s become a national treasure.
