re: Ted Cruz - Your assessment on him is incorrect. Saturn in Scorpio will cause him to "Crash and Burn", politically speaking..
re: Ted Cruz - The stellium of 8th house planets (3 of them in Scorpio, natural ruler of the 8th house) can indicate he would do well with and for other people's money. But can it also lead to life-threatening plots against him? Cruz does have 1st house chiron (which I find to be a little worrisome) opposed 7th house of open enemies Uranus but it is not quite in orb.
Yes Sun Pluto can have a 'fascination' with power. But Cruz' 'fascination with power' may indicate his ability to work successfully with power and his 7th house/Libra placement of planets shows indomitable ability towards discernment and fairness - and holding the line.
I suspect that balancing the budget and refusing the debt ceiling will be next on his list - which might upset a lot of people who want the 'free' goodies to continue, caring not what debt they straddle future generations with - but we will see.
A. Please note that Cruz's birth time is unknown, and so I use 12 noon by default. This means we don't know which houses his various planets fall in...
re: NewsScope slant - why is it that there are no really fair astrologers out there anywhere??? I was hoping you were different. the leftist slant on EVERTHING is such a disappointment. You have good insight astrologically but then wreck it by inserting your hatred of conservatives.
A. I know, it's really difficult. I go the same reaction from Democrats when I forecast that Romney would win.
re: slant - I really enjoy your site and send the link to many people frequently. You would be a person I would trust on the astrology of the US and how it will probably be consumed for the next 100 or so years under socialists/communists /progressives----but only IF you would write it with NO SLANT whatsoever. You are better than the rest, that is certain. As a metaphysical conservative - I am an anomaly. But, I still think that there is an answer someplace within astrology for why this is happening.... hoping you will go in depth at some point SOON on what our future may hold as foretold by the heavens.

re: Miley Cyrus data - Love your Neptune Café blog.... What is your source for that Miley Cyrus' birthday? Astrodatabank has 6:37 am, but it looks like a solar rising chart to me. Their source is some comment on facebook.
A. Yes, the Facebook data is suspect and rated C. My colleague John Halloran sent me her birth time with this note:

re: election - How do you explain your incorrect call on the election?

re: geodetics - One can correlate the zodiac with areas on the planet, which is called geodetic astrology. Zero degres Aries runs through Greenwich and the signs advance east from there. So Washington DC would have 12 degrees Capricorn at the MC. It would be interesting to to see you taking a position on this, with reasons.
A. I just read a book which definitively proves that the 0 degrees Aries meridian goes through Jerusalem. It's called Astrogeographia by Robert Powell. The thing is, I'm already involved with so many controversial stances (Scorpio Rising US chart, asteroids and Lilith), that I don't feel up to deciphering the geodetic puzzle. National charts work very well, so for the time being I'll stick with those.
re: Snowden relocated - Such a nice, clear statement. I've gone on and on trying to share the same point. I began relocating charts in 1970 before I'd seen an ACG map. They are very useful, especially when doing mundane work, but for the refinement, nothing beats a horoscope.
re: Tornado Alley and ACG maps- Your reasoning about tornados in the U.S. may be correct, but you have an obvious technical error. Or at the very least, your wording misrepresents what an AstroCartoGraphy map is. You say, "[W]hen relocating the U.S. chart to Moore, Oklahoma, Mercury is right on the Midheaven and Pluto is three degrees from the 4th house cusp, the IC." What's wrong is that relocating the chart is irrelevant because relocating the chart does not change the AstroCartoGraphy map in the slightest. An ACG map represents where you would have to relocate to get certain celestial bodies on the angles. You don't have to relocate the original chart to see that.
re: royal baby - Thanks for your very interesting Newscope articles -- I always like your topics. I hope someone will be interested in doing the Royal baby's chart---I didn't think it would quite be a Leo - it isn't, right?
A. If George were born 32 minutes later, he would be a Leo. Many astrologers have written good profiles on the young prince, so I'll pass on this story. But I hope you enjoy the Royal Succession angle.
re: economic collapse - Of late there are increasing numbers of astrology posts and websites warning of a financial collapse that will soon affect the entire world—not just the US. Many write this collapse will really “kick-in “beginning later this year” and are reporting the financial signs are overwhelmingly obvious now. My question to you is have you looked into this from an astrological standpoint?
A. No, I don't believe financial collapse will be kicking in later this year, especially in the U.S. While the Uranus-Pluto square is certainly cause for concern, in the U.S. chart transiting Saturn and Pluto are harmoniously related to the Scorpio Ascendant, which strengthens America's corporatocracy. Corporations are holding record amounts of cash and reporting strong earnings. Plus, with transiting Jupiter conjoining the U.S. Sun through April 2014, it won't be until after then that any real pullback kicks in, at least in the U.S.
re: economic collapse, cont. - Your response cheered me up considerably because there is a LOT of doom and gloom about an economic collapse later this year. Your info might cheer a LOT of other people as well, and perhaps drive more people to your site because you will be reporting different information than the doom & gloom prognosticators are providing.
A. Unless an astrologer uses the Scorpio Rising national horoscope, the strengthening of the U.S. corporatocracy isn't apparent.
re: Zimmerman - Love your weekly NewsScope. Have you looked at George Zimmerman's birth chart and current transits? That would make a very interesting article with your interpretations (Saturn return, Pluto squaring natal Sun, etc) Thanks.
A. Many readers asked about Zimmerman's horoscope as well as Trayvon Martin's. I looked at both their charts just after the incident took place. They both have volatile, danger-seeking Mars-Uranus aspects. You can see their charts and read the article here: April 9, 2012

re: Gold - I just read your piece on Nixon's August 15, 1971 speech taking the U.S. off the gold standard. The time he supposedly started the speech was 9 PM in Washington, DC. I figured that he took around ten to fifteen minutes to get to the part on the gold standard. Using 9:15 PM, I have a chart with Pisces rising and Sagittarius MC. One of my considerations for using the public speech instead of the private signing of the executive order is that gold is a public commodity whose price everyone can know, therefore a public speech makes more sense to me.
A. I'm considering the time he signed the executive order, which was before the TV appearance, and records indicate "in the evening". I guess the proof of the pudding is when you an use one of these charts to profit from buying and selling gold stocks or futures.... I did notice a preponderance of planets in the 9 degree area at key turning points, tops and bottoms, which is why I placed 9 Scorpio at the MC, and Ceres at the Descendant. Another option is 6:14 pm which makes the Ascendant the same as Nixon's Capricorn Sun.

re: Newcomers - I want to thank you for your "Newcomers" page. I've been introducing some friends to astrology and this page will be very helpful to them. I'm pleased, too, that my library includes several of the recommended books. I may pick them up and re-read them as a good review!

The Government Shutdown
“What are your thoughts on the government shutdown?” a reader asks. Many astrologers gave reasons for the shutdown after the fact, and based largely on their interpretation of transits to the Sibley chart (with Sagittarius Rising). But this shutdown was foreseen well before the fact using the U.S. Scorpio Rising chart and was described in NewsScope’s August 19, 2013 issue.
The main indicators were the progressed Sun squaring Uranus in the 8th house of budgets, transiting Lilith conjunct the U.S. Sun, and the New Moon aligned with the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square. Pundits are currently seeing October 17 as the end of this crisis, since that’s when the federal government defaults on its debt. Everyone agrees it would be economically catastrophic to go beyond that date.
The problem is that the progressed Sun-square-Uranus astro-event is exact on October 29, indicating that this crisis could continue past October 17. What House Speaker John Boehner does could decide the fate of the nation around that time, since he’s mediating between Republican moderates and the Tea Party faction. Boehner (November 17, 1949) was born with a Sun-Mercury conjunction in Scorpio square Pluto which thrives on these kinds of power games.
Boehner’s Pallas, the political strategy asteroid, conjoins his Libra Moon, with both sextile his Pluto. This adds the political dimension to his persona: transiting Jupiter was exactly squaring his Pallas on October 1 when the shutdown arrived. On October 17, transiting Mercury is slowing down as it nears its retrograde station, and is exactly squaring Boehner’s Pluto. One can only hope that this leads to a shift in position that raises the debt ceiling.

The Republican Party Split
Initially founded as an anti-slavery movement, the Republican Party held its first political convention on July 6, 1854* in Jackson, Michigan. This date (set for noon) can be used as the foundation horoscope for the Republican Party and features a Sun-Lilith conjunction in Cancer at the same place as the U.S. Sun. The GOP Sun sextiles Uranus in Taurus, creating a fundamentally conservative political party.
Several additional planets in the GOP horoscope align with the national Scorpio Rising horoscope, which has helped secure its place on the national scene. Most significantly, Ceres at 16º Aquarius conjoins the U.S. 4th house cusp, adding to the liberty and freedom themes prominent in the GOP domestic agenda. Ronald Reagan, with his Sun at 16º Aquarius, most clearly personified the role as caretaker of these ideals.
Ceres forms a sharp square to Uranus in the GOP chart, which emphasizes the theme of self-reliance rather than government hand-outs. Currently, the GOP progressed Juno is adversely aspecting this natal Ceres-Uranus square, leading to a split within the party concerning how to defund Obamacare. We can see how well this chart responds to current conditions since transiting Saturn was exactly squaring the GOP Mercury when the shutdown went into effect.
Lilith in the GOP chart might be identified as the Tea Party with all its self-righteous rage and outcast status. Lilith is like a dark shadow that hangs over the party identity (Sun). Next year the transiting Uranus-Pluto square hits the U.S. Sun as well as the GOP Sun-Lilith. This celestial coincidence indicates the Tea Party -- as the minority faction within the minority party -- will go on to create more chaos in the political arena. Pluto brings extremists into play, and Uranus foments rebellion, unruliness and independent action.
Ronan Farrow and Ol’ Blue Eyes
In the latest issue of Vanity Fair, actress Mia Farrow discusses her relationship with Frank Sinatra, who she says was the love of her life. When her son Ronan was born, she was ostensibly in a relationship with Woody Allen, but admits that she and Sinatra never really broke up. Might Ronan actually be the son of Frank Sinatra? “Possibly,” said Mia.
Ronan Farrow was born with his Sagittarius Sun conjoined by Uranus, Mercury and Saturn (December 19, 1987; 10:49 am; New York, NY), which is an extraordinary stellium due to its alignment with the Galactic Center at 27º Sagittarius. Ronan made his mark at an early age, becoming Bard College’s youngest graduate at age 16. Since then he has gone on to become a recognized humanitarian and now works for the Obama Administration in Afghanistan.
If Frank Sinatra is indeed Ronan’s father, he would have been 71 years old when he impregnated Mia Farrow in pre-Viagra times. Astrologically, Frank’s imprint on Ronan’s chart is clear: Frank’s studly Mars at 27º Leo exactly aligns with Ronan’s Aquarius Ascendant, and trines his Sagittarius Sun. Frank’s Sagittarius Sun is close to Ronan’s Sagittarius stellium, but most significantly, is exactly trine his Jupiter in Aries. Ronan’s Jupiter gives him the infamous Sinatra swagger.
Mia Farrow (February 9, 1945; 11:27 am; Los Angeles, CA) was born with Venus in the 12th house of secret affairs. Venus here forms a trine to Pluto, which rules the 7th house of partners. Venus-Pluto aspects are frequently involved in trust issues, and Pluto has real problems in letting go. When Ronan was conceived in March 1987, Mia’s progressed Moon was conjunct her Pluto, activating this old alliance. And transiting Jupiter was in her 12th house and conjoining her Venus, giving her plenty of opportunity to have a tryst with Sinatra.
