re: women kidnapped- I’m sure you’re getting piles of e-mails, asking for insight into this horrific occurrence. I imagine you’ll do a horoscope for Ariel Castro. But he’s in custody and the legal system will take care of him. I’m concerned about these women. I’m most concerned for Michelle Knight, as it appears there is estrangement from the little family she has.

People, find a place to hide when Mars and Pluto explode beneath the Venus facade. Expect to see Gwyneth at more violent / action movies. Venus is more beautiful when Mars the beast is channelled positively.

re: drought - I read your blog regularly religiously as it is informative and educating. I live in heartland and I remember your writing last summer that it will be very difficult and those transits will remain in effect till this late this summer also due to lilith. Would you please be kind enough to refresh this prediction if possible because last year's drought here was extremely unbearable and it was extremely disheartening to farmers. So if time permits would you again enlighten us with your astrological thinking about heat and drought in heartland of America.

re: Amanda Knox - I really enjoyed your new page about the Amanda Knox case--excellent work! I do have a question, though--at the very end, you suggest that the hard work for Amanda started when Uranus retrograded right square her Saturn and pr Saturn, but still minutes away. I've often wondered about these spare minutes--Saturn retrograded just minutes before conjuncting my Neptune a few months back (actually, looking at the chart now, it was 1 degree 14 mins...)
My tendency is to say there is no actual effect if there is not actual connection, and well, minutes are still minutes. But it sounds like you feel differently--if so, within how many minutes, or even degrees do you feel a transiting aspect must be to actually create an effect in a retrograde like this? What's your experience with this? The Knox case certainly seems proof. A. Every case is different, but a natal planet doesn't operate in isolation. Consider the progressed planets, and faster moving transits, like the Sun or Mars, or even the Moon, to carry the connection from the transit to the natal planet. This is known as the "translation of the light" in traditional astrology.
In Amanda's case, transiting Uranus turned retrograde while only 0º03’ from her progressed Saturn. The closeness of that station in itself suggests major life events unfolding. That's pretty much as close to a direct hit as one can get.re: Zendaya - I always enjoy your weekly column. I'm wondering if a birthtime of about 11:15 AM might be right for Zendaya Coleman? A. Hmmm... maybe so. It's an interesting concept that Disney girls have a prominent Lilith. I did a quick check and noticed that Britney Spears has her Sagittarius Sun conjunct Lilith and Annette Funicello has Lilith conjunct her Cancer Ascendant.

Hillary Clinton and Saturn
In Western astrology, Saturn’s passage through the 12th house is often cited as a time of sorrow, suffering, and isolation. This transit makes it difficult to advance professionally unless one’s work is naturally related to the 12th house. Vedic astrologers tend to look at this transit differently, since it provides insights into one’s mental, psychological, and emotional well-being and what needs to be done to grow spiritually.
These tri-wheel sections show the connctions between transiting Saturn in Clinton's 12th house and its sextile to her progressed Mars at the MC and the square to a progressed Venus-Lilith conjunction
Hillary Clinton most appropriately announced on November 9, 2012 that she would be stepping down from her Secretary of State post just as transiting Saturn had entered her 12th house. Before she left, on January 23, 2013, she testified before a Senate hearing on the Benghazi consulate attacks, and famously responded to criticism “What difference does it make?” At the time, transiting Saturn was in her 12th house and conjoining her progressed Midheaven, signifying a fateful, career-shaping misstep.
Last week, the hearings on Benghazi continued, and as Politico made clear,Hillary Clinton is the GOP’s main target since she is seen as the most likely presidential candidate in 2016. Of course, Saturn is still transiting through Ms. Clinton’s 12th house of enemy action, and is now at 7º Scorpio. This is a critical degree in her chart since her progressed Mars is at 7º Virgo near her Midheaven, and her progressed Venus and Lilith are at 7º Aquarius. Saturn here is both
attacking and enhancing, which is neatly personified by the partisan politics.
Saturn emerges briefly from Clinton’s 12th house from January through April of 2014 when we might expect to know her intentions for the presidential campaign. In late January her progressed Moon conjoins her Midheaven, which seems like the most likely time to express her interest. Simultaneously, the dramatic, epochal transiting Uranus-Pluto square aligning with the U.S. Sun would fit the intense love-hate ambivalence Americans feel about a Hillary Clinton presidency.
Bangladesh’s Garment Industry
Astrologers looking for insights into Bangladesh’s national horoscope following the garment factory disaster were dismayed to find a confusing array of possibilities. Campion offers at least six options without stating a preference. After much research, the chart that seems to work best is set for April 17, 1971 for the Proclamation of Independence by the government-in-exile. I’ve rectified it to 5:53 am*; Dacca.
Bangladesh’s short history has been dominated by a powerful military, which has periodically instigated coups. Mars at the Midheaven squaring the Sun shows the natural tension between the political leaders and the generals. Saturn in Taurus is a major player in this chart, and symbolizes the captains of industry. Saturn can be a troublemaker though, since it squares the karmic Lunar Node axis. Mars trines Saturn, showing the healthy relationship between the military and the international weapons industry.
Saturn is also sextile Venus, the natural ruler of the garment industry. Bangladesh’s ruling planet is Venus, and is located in the 12th house. Due to Venus’s opposition to Black Moon Lilith and Pluto, we sense the chronic victim status, one of the poorest, most calamity-prone nations on the planet.
Still, the harmonious connection between Venus and Saturn has led to a $20 billion-a-year textile industry, which is mostly comprised of women workers (Venus) who are locked in during their entire shift (12th house).
The people of Bangladesh and their security needs are symbolized by the Moon in conservative Capricorn, which is under major stress by squaring a Chiron-Uranus opposition. This T-square was dramatically hit by the transiting Uranus-Pluto square on April 24 when the clothing factory collapsed. Also, the progressed Midheaven was squaring Neptune in the 8th house of “payoffs”, which highlighted the pervasive corruption that made such miserable factory conditions possible.
The Great Gatsby
F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby has grown in popularity since it was first published, and has been the subject of numerous film adaptations. In addition to Leo DiCaprio, some of America’s greatest actors have played the mysterious former bootlegger Jay Gatsby who was enjoying the great prosperity, opulence and decadence of the Jazz Age – a term coined by Fitzgerald in this novel.

The chart for the publication date (April 10, 1925; New York, NY; noon) centers on the romantic Sun-Venus conjunction in Aries that squares Jupiter, a configuration reflecting the protagonist’s wealth and independence as well as his fated interest in the free-spirited flapper, Daisy. The Sun-Venus also squares a close conjunction between Lilith and Pluto at 11º Cancer, which describes the more sinister connection to the underworld and hidden treasures.
This chart’s Sun-Lilith square is most intriguingly echoed in the personal charts of all the lead actors who have played Jay Gatsby. Robert Redford (in 1974), Alan Ladd (1949), and William Powell (1926) are the A-Listers who have interpreted the character. Each one of these actors has a close Sun-Lilith aspect, which naturally contrasts the luminous social scenes with
organized crime. Redford’s Leo Sun is sextile Lilith; Powell’s Leo Sun squares Lilith. Ladd’s Virgo Sun opposes Lilith, and Leo DiCaprio’s Scorpio Sun squares Lilith.
While Venus and Jupiter are often linked to prosperity, Pluto is the symbol for vast wealth, the kind we now associate with the top 1%, the super-rich. The latest version of The Great Gatsby is creating a resurgence in 1920s art deco styles, a fascination with a zooming stock market, and a blind eye to the impending Crash. The cyclical nature of these events can be seen astrologically: the film opened over the weekend as transiting Pluto formed an exact opposition to this chart’s natal Pluto.
