re: women kidnapped- I’m sure you’re getting piles of e-mails, asking for insight into this horrific occurrence. I imagine you’ll do a horoscope for Ariel Castro. But he’s in custody and the legal system will take care of him. I’m concerned about these women. I’m most concerned for Michelle Knight, as it appears there is estrangement from the little family she has.

re: Gwyneth Paltrow - I love Gwyneth Paltrow. You did not mentioned her Mars Pluto conjunction. I am a Scorpion married to a Libran, who has Mars Pluto conjunction at Leo, at midheaven. People, find a place to hide when Mars and Pluto explode beneath the Venus facade. Expect to see Gwyneth at more violent / action movies. Venus is more beautiful when Mars the beast is channelled positively.

re: drought - I read your blog regularly religiously as it is informative and educating. I live in heartland and I remember your writing last summer that it will be very difficult and those transits will remain in effect till this late this summer also due to lilith. Would you please be kind enough to refresh this prediction if possible because last year's drought here was extremely unbearable and it was extremely disheartening to farmers. So if time permits would you again enlighten us with your astrological thinking about heat and drought in heartland of America.

re: Amanda Knox - I really enjoyed your new page about the Amanda Knox case--excellent work! I do have a question, though--at the very end, you suggest that the hard work for Amanda started when Uranus retrograded right square her Saturn and pr Saturn, but still minutes away. I've often wondered about these spare minutes--Saturn retrograded just minutes before conjuncting my Neptune a few months back (actually, looking at the chart now, it was 1 degree 14 mins...)
My tendency is to say there is no actual effect if there is not actual connection, and well, minutes are still minutes. But it sounds like you feel differently--if so, within how many minutes, or even degrees do you feel a transiting aspect must be to actually create an effect in a retrograde like this? What's your experience with this? The Knox case certainly seems proof. A. Every case is different, but a natal planet doesn't operate in isolation. Consider the progressed planets, and faster moving transits, like the Sun or Mars, or even the Moon, to carry the connection from the transit to the natal planet. This is known as the "translation of the light" in traditional astrology.
In Amanda's case, transiting Uranus turned retrograde while only 0º03’ from her progressed Saturn. The closeness of that station in itself suggests major life events unfolding. That's pretty much as close to a direct hit as one can get.re: Zendaya - I always enjoy your weekly column. I'm wondering if a birthtime of about 11:15 AM might be right for Zendaya Coleman? A. Hmmm... maybe so. It's an interesting concept that Disney girls have a prominent Lilith. I did a quick check and noticed that Britney Spears has her Sagittarius Sun conjunct Lilith and Annette Funicello has Lilith conjunct her Cancer Ascendant.

Obama’s Dilemma
To hear Fox News tell it, Obama has three ongoing scandals that put him in the same sordid category as Richard Nixon. The IRS debacle is the one most likely to stick, but to date, no evidence has turned up concerning Obama’s involvement. The other “scandals” – the Benghazi affair and subpoenaed phone records from journalists -- come nowhere near Nixon’s Watergate scandal.
Looking at Obama’s overall chart conditions, his progressed Moon jumps out as being in a critical location. The progressed Moon advances at the rate of about one degree per month, and its aspects often pinpoint important events. Currently at 24º Aries, his progressed Moon is entering into a nice trine to Uranus, his chart ruler. This aspect is in effect now and will be exact on June 26, making June a relatively good month for him.
Obama’s natal Sun-Neptune square makes him a prime candidate for a scandal-plagued presidency. These three cases coincide with transiting Saturn conjoining his natal Neptune. Transiting Saturn’s first passage over this point came last December when Congressional hearings began investigating the consulate attack on Benghazi. Saturn conjoined Obama’s Neptune a second time when the IRS scandal emerged. A third and final Saturn hit comes again in September.
However, at the same time his progressed Moon squares his 12th house Saturn, indicating that he’s got some hidden concerns. On July 19, his progressed Moon and Mars oppose each other, a sure sign of enemy action. To be sure, his political adversaries will be piling on, but another major factor is his uncertainty about Syria: whether to engage militarily or watch the humanitarian disaster worsen. Russia, Hezbollah and Iran are actively supporting Bashar al-Assad’s presidency, while the western powers remain on the sidelines.
June’s Top Five Astro-Events
1. Mars conjoins the feminine asteroid Pallas on the 7th, an influence extending from the 1st through 12th. In Gemini, this combination emphasizes assertive communication, which may quickly become a war of words. Mars-Pallas squares Neptune in the same interval, so wherever patriarchal religions most repress women is where one can expect the most violence and hostility.
2. Saturn trines Neptune on the 11th but is in effect all month. Those affected by this beneficial influence may advance professionally or grow personally by following their intuition, by going with the flow. For those who look, the veil between the spiritual realm and manifest reality becomes more transparent, bringing signs, omens and synchronicities. This is a good time to reconnect with distant family members.
3. The Summer Solstice on June 21st features a Sun-Jupiter-Lilith triple conjunction, which in Washington, takes place on the 4th house cusp. This set-up suggests a mysterious dignitary or head of state coming to visit carrying a secret agenda. A Mercury-Venus conjunction points to an alliance-building process. Fortuna at 25º Leo favors President Obama over the next three months, and perhaps Bill Clinton will have a new assignment.
4. The Full Moon on the 23rd takes place two days after the Summer Solstice and aligns with Black Moon Lilith in Cancer. Expect some unforeseen breakthroughs around this time, since what has been invisible or under the radar is now emerging. Household dynamics can take a surprising turn for better or worse. Changes made around this time can have long-term benefits, especially in re-building family connections.
5. Jupiter enters Cancer on the 26th where it remains through mid-July 2014. Empathy increases tremendously over the coming year, allowing a renewed spirit of generosity, forgiveness and tolerance to enhance all relationships, especially between family members. Over the next three weeks, as Mercury retrogrades through Cancer, think about where you can feel most at home.
Rich Roll, Vegan Super-Athlete
Can an athlete perform well by eating only plant-based food? Last week, a Huffpo article featured the ten super-foods eaten by Rich Roll, a top marathon runner who has been on a strict vegan diet since he was 40 years old. Before he became one of the world’s fittest men, he was a couch potato, subsisting on junk food, drugs and alcohol.
Rich Roll was born with a Sun-Venus conjunction in the Cinderella sign of Libra (October 20, 1966; Grosse Pointe, MI; time unknown). The Sun-Venus here enjoys the finer things in life, but may fall into a luxury-loving, passive lifestyle. The Sun quincunx Saturn and the Capricorn Moon bring the ambition and discipline to succeed, and by age 40 he was doing fine as an entertainment lawyer.
But physically he was a mess -- overweight, and winded climbing just a few stairs. His Libra sensibility realized his life was out of balance, and he spontaneously quit junk food and adopted his wife’s healthy nutritional program. The turning point came on his 40th birthday, which astrologically, is often a decisive time due to the outer planet transits reconnecting to their birth locations (i.e., Neptune squaring natal Neptune, Uranus opposing natal Uranus).
Roll’s exact Mercury-Neptune conjunction in Scorpio allowed him to imagineer his complete physical transformation. And since his Mercury-Neptune forms a close aspect to Ceres (by trioctile or 135º), his path forward was through food. Saturn, Lilith, Uranus and Pluto are also closely aspecting his Mercury, making him a messenger of change, an agent for the collective on the benefits of eating right.
