re: guns and Lilith - Had a chill go up my spine when the breaking news of the LAX shooting hit today. I had just read the article this morning on Neptunecafe relating BML to guns in the USA Scorpio rising chart. Caused me to check the tri-wheel for the US chart and sure enough the transiting Moon is on the progressed Mean Black Moon Lilith at 15 Libra. Wow!
re: top five - First the 4th U-P square on the 1st, then the eclipse on the 3rd, then Merc going direct trine Neptune: Does this bode well for the ACA (Obamacare) going through a difficult transformation, and coming out much more positively later in the month, much as the administration is saying? I hope so. I know too many people who need reliable health coverage for this to fail. As always, great info on your site.
re: Obamacare - Our President and country are headed for more dysfunction over the next 15 months. Is Affordable Health Care ever going to succeed? Other than being the first black president, will Obama ultimately be considered a great president?
re: Scorpio Rising - The latest development in the embarrassing scandal concerning the close Allies of the USA , has to be a text-book happening between Uranus and Pluto. It also supports your belief , that the USA has a Scorpio Ascendent. Love reading your stuff, you are the Best.
re: graphics - Love reading your column every Monday morning. It's quite informative and well written. I was wondering how you make the horoscope graphics for your columns. If you could let me know where I could obtain software that re-creates images like these that would be great. Thanks very much! Keep up the great work!
A. I use SolarFire to create the charts, and then fine-tune those and add some artistic touches with some very simple graphics software, so it's a combination.
re: neptunecafe - I really like reading and thinking about your articles; they offer the best information on the internet. Recently I read about the asteroid Juno. Please help me understand it better in my chart.
A. Juno and Venus are both about relationships. Juno is more interested in forming a long term commitment than Venus, while Venus is interested in sex, romance, and intimacy. If Venus and Juno are harmoniously aspected in your chart, you can marry for love, otherwise commitments may suffer from wandering affections. You can get a full description of your natal Juno and the other three major asteroids (Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas) by ordering an Asteroid Goddess Report.
re: Rahm Emanuel - Take a look at Rahm Emanuel's chart. He says he is running for re-election in February 2015. He has to file petitions at the end of 2014. How does his chart look for re-election?

re: Tea Party - The current articles at NeptuneCafe are more indicative of a well written article with less COMMENTARY compared to other articles around the net that had me so dismayed---until you get to the Tea party nasty-ass comments. As a former upstate (Communist state of) New York Tea Party Founder and Leader during the 2010 mid-terms, I have to wonder how many Tea Party people like myself you may know. If you met me in person, would you hate me and call me the kinds of things you call the Tea Party?
re: Tea Party - I have gone searching for astrologers who do political astrology...but have been sorely disappointed so far because of the liberal/progressives being so hateful towards anything that they don't like which is usually anything about FREE MARKET CAPITALISM, Freedom, Constitutional, etc. They are all for SOCIAL JUSTICE which has a communist history of its own.
re: Ted Cruz - Your assessment on him is incorrect. Saturn in Scorpio will cause him to "Crash and Burn", politically speaking..
re: Ted Cruz - The stellium of 8th house planets (3 of them in Scorpio, natural ruler of the 8th house) can indicate he would do well with and for other people's money. But can it also lead to life-threatening plots against him? Cruz does have 1st house chiron (which I find to be a little worrisome) opposed 7th house of open enemies Uranus but it is not quite in orb.
Yes Sun Pluto can have a 'fascination' with power. But Cruz' 'fascination with power' may indicate his ability to work successfully with power and his 7th house/Libra placement of planets shows indomitable ability towards discernment and fairness - and holding the line.
I suspect that balancing the budget and refusing the debt ceiling will be next on his list - which might upset a lot of people who want the 'free' goodies to continue, caring not what debt they straddle future generations with - but we will see.
A. Please note that Cruz's birth time is unknown, and so I use 12 noon by default. This means we don't know which houses his various planets fall in...
re: NewsScope slant - why is it that there are no really fair astrologers out there anywhere??? I was hoping you were different. the leftist slant on EVERTHING is such a disappointment. You have good insight astrologically but then wreck it by inserting your hatred of conservatives.
A. I know, it's really difficult. I go the same reaction from Democrats when I forecast that Romney would win.
re: slant - I really enjoy your site and send the link to many people frequently. You would be a person I would trust on the astrology of the US and how it will probably be consumed for the next 100 or so years under socialists/communists /progressives----but only IF you would write it with NO SLANT whatsoever. You are better than the rest, that is certain. As a metaphysical conservative - I am an anomaly. But, I still think that there is an answer someplace within astrology for why this is happening.... hoping you will go in depth at some point SOON on what our future may hold as foretold by the heavens.

re: Miley Cyrus data - Love your Neptune Café blog.... What is your source for that Miley Cyrus' birthday? Astrodatabank has 6:37 am, but it looks like a solar rising chart to me. Their source is some comment on facebook.

re: election - How do you explain your incorrect call on the election?

re: geodetics - One can correlate the zodiac with areas on the planet, which is called geodetic astrology. Zero degres Aries runs through Greenwich and the signs advance east from there. So Washington DC would have 12 degrees Capricorn at the MC. It would be interesting to to see you taking a position on this, with reasons.
A. I just read a book which definitively proves that the 0 degrees Aries meridian goes through Jerusalem. It's called Astrogeographia by Robert Powell. The thing is, I'm already involved with so many controversial stances (Scorpio Rising US chart, asteroids and Lilith), that I don't feel up to deciphering the geodetic puzzle. National charts work very well, so for the time being I'll stick with those.
re: royal baby - Thanks for your very interesting Newscope articles -- I always like your topics. I hope someone will be interested in doing the Royal baby's chart---I didn't think it would quite be a Leo - it isn't, right?
A. If George were born 32 minutes later, he would be a Leo. Many astrologers have written good profiles on the young prince, so I'll pass on this story. But I hope you enjoy the Royal Succession angle.

re: Newcomers - I want to thank you for your "Newcomers" page. I've been introducing some friends to astrology and this page will be very helpful to them. I'm pleased, too, that my library includes several of the recommended books. I may pick them up and re-read them as a good review!

Christiana Figueres in Poland
No matter where you look these days, the individuals and entities shaping the news headlines invariably have important planets around 8º to 10º of the cardinal signs, the critical degrees being transited by the Uranus-Pluto square. Christiana Figueres, the UN’s lead administrator on climate change, is no exception. She will deliver a much-anticipated keynote address at Poland’s Coal Conference on November 18.
Figueres was born with her Sun trine Ceres (August 7, 1956; San Jose, Costa Rica; time unknown), a configuration that naturally takes a leadership role (Leo Sun) in pioneering environmental protection (Ceres in Aries). Her Moon in analytical Virgo conjoins a forward-thinking Mercury-Jupiter conjunction, which reflects her family background of progressive planners: her father was president of Costa Rica three times, and abolished the army in 1948.
Figueres has the marriage asteroid Juno at 8º Capricorn. Curiously, she often talks about a balanced approach that “marries” financial and emissions commitments with fair measures that guide long-term mitigation efforts. Her primary role is as a negotiator between financial interests and the need to reduce carbon emissions. Naturally,
her Sun has progressed into the diplomatic sign of Libra where it is now aligned with the transiting Uranus-Pluto square.
Over the next few weeks, world leaders will be gathering in Warsaw to discuss climate change issues. Across the street, and at the same time, Poland is also hosting a World Coal Conference, an odd juxtaposition of conflicting interests. In addition to the shape-shifting Uranus-Pluto alignments to her progressed Sun and natal Juno, Christiana Figueres will deliver the most important keynote address of her life as transiting Saturn is exactly squaring her Sun.
Oil in the Lone Star State
Over the last two months, religious fundamentalists sitting on Texas education boards are insisting on editing out references to human-caused climate change in the science books. Meanwhile, new investments in the shale oil fields have boosted Texas energy production to some 52 million barrels per month. If Texas were a sovereign nation, it would be the world’s tenth largest oil producer.
Texas became a state on December 29, 1845 (1:11 pm* LMT; Austin, TX) when the Sun and Moon were in the patriarchal, business-first sign of Capricorn. Venus, the chart ruler, conjoins Neptune, which is associated with oil. Texas oil was first discovered at Beaumont on January 10, 1901 as progressed Jupiter at 6º Taurus conjoined the Taurus Ascendant. Expansive Jupiter ushered in several decades of rapid growth based on oil production.
With the Texas Sun and Mercury squaring a volatile Mars-Uranus conjunction in pioneering Aries, Texas prides itself on its fierce independence and rebellion against any external limitations. The Moon squares Pluto, which has helped create a plutocracy – Texas has some 50 billionaires (and counting), most of whom made their wealth in the oil and gas industry. Most significantly, the Texas Sun and Moon are in the 9th house of religion and education.

The transiting Uranus-Pluto square has been activating the Texas Mercury and Sun over the last several years, transforming the state into an economic powerhouse. It seems unlikely that a little thing like fossil fuels contributing to global warming will move Texas to trim its oil production, which contributes some $12 billion to the state treasury every year. Currently, transiting Jupiter (associated with religion) is stationing opposite the Texas Moon, indicating that a decision on climate-denying textbooks is coming soon.
Jennifer Aniston’s Makeover
One of the top celeb stories last week was Jennifer Aniston cropping her hair into a short bob. Yes, it was headline news at the Huffington Post, E! Online, Vogue, USA Today and many other media favorites. Why should we care? Aniston regularly appears at or near the top of the most beautiful, best-dressed, wealthiest and sexiest women lists.
Aniston was born with her Sun in the “friends” sign of Aquarius (February 11, 1969; 10:22 pm; Sherman Oaks, CA). Since her Sun, Ascendant, Mars, Pluto and Fortuna are all at 23º or 24º of their respective signs, any major transit or progression to this degree area will bring big changes. For example, she announced her engagement to actor Justin Theroux on August 12, 2012 when a transiting Mars-Saturn conjunction at 23º Libra landed right on her Ascendant.
With Libra Rising, Jennifer Aniston’s ruling planet is Venus, and is located in the pioneering sign of Aries. She initially became famous for her hairstyle when she sported “The Rachel” during her early years at “Friends”, which became an enduring fashion. Currently, her progressed Venus at 24º Aries is forming a perfect quincunx (150º) to her Pluto, a solid indicator for a regenerative hair makeover.
Aniston’s progressed Venus is almost exactly conjunct her Descendant, but has been retrograde since May 2003. Over the last decade, her progressed Venus has also been near her progressed Saturn, which accounts for her difficult relationship patterns since then. Currently, transiting Uranus is conjunct her Venus, and she explains how it makes her feel: “I was just ready for a change. I was ready for something new.” Perhaps she will change her boyfriend soon as well.
