re: guns and Lilith - Had a chill go up my spine when the breaking news of the LAX shooting hit today. I had just read the article this morning on Neptunecafe relating BML to guns in the USA Scorpio rising chart. Caused me to check the tri-wheel for the US chart and sure enough the transiting Moon is on the progressed Mean Black Moon Lilith at 15 Libra. Wow!
re: top five - First the 4th U-P square on the 1st, then the eclipse on the 3rd, then Merc going direct trine Neptune: Does this bode well for the ACA (Obamacare) going through a difficult transformation, and coming out much more positively later in the month, much as the administration is saying? I hope so. I know too many people who need reliable health coverage for this to fail. As always, great info on your site.

re: graphics - Love reading your column every Monday morning. It's quite informative and well written. I was wondering how you make the horoscope graphics for your columns. If you could let me know where I could obtain software that re-creates images like these that would be great. Thanks very much! Keep up the great work!
A. I use SolarFire to create the charts, and then fine-tune those and add some artistic touches with some very simple graphics software, so it's a combination.
re: neptunecafe - I really like reading and thinking about your articles; they offer the best information on the internet. Recently I read about the asteroid Juno. Please help me understand it better in my chart.
A. Juno and Venus are both about relationships. Juno is more interested in forming a long term commitment than Venus, while Venus is interested in sex, romance, and intimacy. If Venus and Juno are harmoniously aspected in your chart, you can marry for love, otherwise commitments may suffer from wandering affections. You can get a full description of your natal Juno and the other three major asteroids (Ceres, Vesta, and Pallas) by ordering an Asteroid Goddess Report.
re: Rahm Emanuel - Take a look at Rahm Emanuel's chart. He says he is running for re-election in February 2015. He has to file petitions at the end of 2014. How does his chart look for re-election?

re: Tea Party - The current articles at NeptuneCafe are more indicative of a well written article with less COMMENTARY compared to other articles around the net that had me so dismayed---until you get to the Tea party nasty-ass comments. As a former upstate (Communist state of) New York Tea Party Founder and Leader during the 2010 mid-terms, I have to wonder how many Tea Party people like myself you may know. If you met me in person, would you hate me and call me the kinds of things you call the Tea Party?
re: Tea Party - I have gone searching for astrologers who do political astrology...but have been sorely disappointed so far because of the liberal/progressives being so hateful towards anything that they don't like which is usually anything about FREE MARKET CAPITALISM, Freedom, Constitutional, etc. They are all for SOCIAL JUSTICE which has a communist history of its own.

re: Ted Cruz - The stellium of 8th house planets (3 of them in Scorpio, natural ruler of the 8th house) can indicate he would do well with and for other people's money. But can it also lead to life-threatening plots against him? Cruz does have 1st house chiron (which I find to be a little worrisome) opposed 7th house of open enemies Uranus but it is not quite in orb.
Yes Sun Pluto can have a 'fascination' with power. But Cruz' 'fascination with power' may indicate his ability to work successfully with power and his 7th house/Libra placement of planets shows indomitable ability towards discernment and fairness - and holding the line.
I suspect that balancing the budget and refusing the debt ceiling will be next on his list - which might upset a lot of people who want the 'free' goodies to continue, caring not what debt they straddle future generations with - but we will see.
A. Please note that Cruz's birth time is unknown, and so I use 12 noon by default. This means we don't know which houses his various planets fall in...
re: NewsScope slant - why is it that there are no really fair astrologers out there anywhere??? I was hoping you were different. the leftist slant on EVERTHING is such a disappointment. You have good insight astrologically but then wreck it by inserting your hatred of conservatives.
A. I know, it's really difficult. I go the same reaction from Democrats when I forecast that Romney would win.
re: slant - I really enjoy your site and send the link to many people frequently. You would be a person I would trust on the astrology of the US and how it will probably be consumed for the next 100 or so years under socialists/communists /progressives----but only IF you would write it with NO SLANT whatsoever. You are better than the rest, that is certain. As a metaphysical conservative - I am an anomaly. But, I still think that there is an answer someplace within astrology for why this is happening.... hoping you will go in depth at some point SOON on what our future may hold as foretold by the heavens.

re: Miley Cyrus data - Love your Neptune Café blog.... What is your source for that Miley Cyrus' birthday? Astrodatabank has 6:37 am, but it looks like a solar rising chart to me. Their source is some comment on facebook.

re: election - How do you explain your incorrect call on the election?

re: geodetics - One can correlate the zodiac with areas on the planet, which is called geodetic astrology. Zero degres Aries runs through Greenwich and the signs advance east from there. So Washington DC would have 12 degrees Capricorn at the MC. It would be interesting to to see you taking a position on this, with reasons.
A. I just read a book which definitively proves that the 0 degrees Aries meridian goes through Jerusalem. It's called Astrogeographia by Robert Powell. The thing is, I'm already involved with so many controversial stances (Scorpio Rising US chart, asteroids and Lilith), that I don't feel up to deciphering the geodetic puzzle. National charts work very well, so for the time being I'll stick with those.
re: royal baby - Thanks for your very interesting Newscope articles -- I always like your topics. I hope someone will be interested in doing the Royal baby's chart---I didn't think it would quite be a Leo - it isn't, right?
A. If George were born 32 minutes later, he would be a Leo. Many astrologers have written good profiles on the young prince, so I'll pass on this story. But I hope you enjoy the Royal Succession angle.

re: Newcomers - I want to thank you for your "Newcomers" page. I've been introducing some friends to astrology and this page will be very helpful to them. I'm pleased, too, that my library includes several of the recommended books. I may pick them up and re-read them as a good review!

Obamacare on the Ropes
Last week Republican strategists sent GOP lawmakers an 18-page playbook attacking Obamacare which included talking points, op-ed pieces, and fact sheets. Following the collapse of the Healthcare.gov website, Obama’s approval ratings have plummeted to their lowest point ever. The ongoing Uranus-Pluto square provides the basic planetary dynamic for this conflict, especially as it edges toward the U.S. Sun in 2014.
Ceres and Black Moon Lilith provide additional astrological insights. Ceres in political astrology is naturally associated with health care. In Obama’s horoscope, Ceres is in financially savvy Taurus and exactly square Black Moon Lilith, which creates the motivation for an “affordable” health care program.
When the Affordable Care Act was signed in 2010, Obama’s progressed Ceres was just turning retrograde while squaring his karmic Lunar Node axis.
Unfortunately for Obama, his progressed Lilith remains in the same degree area: it’s conjunct his North Node and squaring his progressed Ceres. Since his Lilith is in the 7th house of “open enemies”, Obama has his hands full implementing his signature achievement. Obama’s progressed Lilith squaring his progressed Ceres gets tighter and tighter over the coming two years, ensuring escalating attacks on this health care system.

Top Five Astro-Events for December
1. Transiting Neptune trines the U.S. Venus on the 20th, a beneficial combination that may produce more cooperation in international affairs and perhaps an historic treaty. This aspect is in effect all month and indicates a prosperous month for businesses that thrive on holiday shoppers. The potential peace accords developing must be completed by the 20th, since disruptive elements come into play after that (see #4 and #5 below).
3. The Full Moon on the 17th takes place as Uranus turns direct, marking a distinct turning point in many personal, business, and geopolitical developments. Expect an important announcement from the Fed regarding its bond-buying program, which could trigger a pullback in global markets. Since Uranus is forming an exact hit to the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant, look for major developments in Obamacare and other political concerns.
4. Venus turns retrograde on the 21st and will remain so through the end of January. New romances, and personal and business relationships that form over the next five weeks will likely end poorly. Existing relationships may go through a phase of coolness or be sidetracked with emerging doubts and complexes. This is a good time to find out what you really love doing, and who you truly respect and appreciate.
5. Mars opposes Uranus on the 25th and squares Pluto on the 30th, making the last week of December unusually turbulent. Due to the impulsive nature of Mars, the tension associated with this configuration may be felt well ahead of these exact aspects, indicating that the holiday season will be unusually chaotic. Beware of potential accidents and things breaking. Watch out for terror alerts, traffic snarls, extreme weather, and bad-tempered relatives and partners.
Allie Brosh’s Hyperbole and a Half
The Barnes & Noble bookstore in the rural town of Bend, Oregon was packed with fans of Allie Brosh, the local girl who was making a splash on the national scene for Hyperbole and a Half*. Her immensely popular illustrated blog has been widely touted as among the funniest, quirkiest blogs on the net, and now it’s in book form. Is the film next?
Allie Brosh was born with Taurus Sun opposite Saturn (May 18, 1985; Auburn, CA; time unknown), an ambitious combination given a demonic twist by its alignment with the so-called evil star Algol. Traditionally known as the most malefic star in the heavens, Algol in more modern interpretations is akin to Lilith, and symbolizes feminine passion and power. Her fan base recognizes this kinship – 95 percent of those lining up to get her new book autographed were women, from children to the elderly.
Any evil tendencies are modified and eliminated by the exceptionally well aspected placement of Venus, which gains popularity and stardom by beneficial aspects to Jupiter and Uranus. Although her illustrations seem childish and overly simplistic, Brosh admits to being a perfectionist, and spends hours on a single drawing. Mercury opposite Pluto reflects this perfectionism, as well as the obsessive-compulsive nature depicted in her blog.
When GOP strategists issued their playbook last week, transiting Ceres in Libra was activating the transiting Uranus-Pluto square, which confirms the relevance of these three planets. In April 2014, the Uranus-Pluto square aligns with the U.S. Sun, perhaps leading to a major stand-off between the two parties over Obamacare. Yet transiting Jupiter enters Leo in July 2014, where it conjoins Obama’s Mercury and Sun. This may indicate that he eventually emerges victorious, or at the very least, that he gains the upper hand.
Venus gains weight in this chart since she rules the Taurus Sun and Moon. In October 2011, Brosh revealed to her readers that she was suffering from depression. At the time, transiting Saturn was opposing her Venus, and she quit writing her blog for over a year. Now she’s in the midst of her Saturn Return, offering her the opportunity to manage her Algol-driven angst of being a powerful woman in a patriarchal society.

2. Jupiter trines Saturn on the 12th, with its beneficial economic and financial effects most noticeable from the 7th through 15th. This second of three waves of this Jupiter-Saturn cycle favors slow but steady growth in all business matters. Family interactions are temporarily under well managed, mutually agreeable dynamics. Advancement is possible with a balanced blend of optimism and a clear sense of reality.
