re: Wal-Mart - Thanks so much for all you do. I especially enjoyed the Wal-Mart story. Wal-Mart is a major contemporary symbol of the US psychic landscape, at least for the common people of the US. I note the perfect conjunction between Wal-Mart's natal Mars and the USA's natal Pluto (and ruling planet). What do you think of that?
A. Yes, that's a major connection. The U.S. Pluto, the nation's ruling planet, describes the power of corporate America, and Wal-Mart is a major manifestation of that, a corporate warrior, if you will.
re: Wal-Mart - Wal-Mart's Saturn is also being eclipsed by the Solar Eclipse on the 28th. And its opposing its Sun as well. I don't think eclipses to Saturn are viewed as beneficial.
re: Colbert - I love Stephen Colbert! In his case, we can see how Saturn rewards hard work. You get what you deserve with Saturn. What he started 14 years ago has reached full flower and will now transition into something new.
re: America's plutocracy - I especially love your last line in the "Rise of America's Plutocracy" post. Yes, that and more. At least a few of us have noticed... It looks like the April 15 "Blood Moon" will be one degree off of both my Sun in Aries, and Moon in Libra. I'm thinking about staying "under the covers," but that doesn't seem to be what your advice is.
re: America's plutocracy - It's turning out more Brave New World than 1984 in some ways... I am constantly shocked by how much pharma my American friends ingest... and it's happening here too in the UK. The only thing that has put the brakes on it is the NHS, and that's not for a good reason, but simply because the government is cheapskate.... Yes -- Pluto is winning the Uranus-Pluto square at the moment...

re: MH370 - Just wanted to share a few comments & questions about the current mystery regarding the missing plane from some fellow astrologers. Like you, we feel that hidden hands set this in motion and that the plane is most likely not in the ocean but landed & hidden for now in another country pending some future action. We have been following the moon in the departure chart to watch the revelations & false starts to current hunt in south Indian sea under the recent Scorpio moon 12th house of that chart then into Sag... high hopes dashed back to square one for the hunt.
So our questions to you... when do you think the world will start searching on land... who do you think will solve this & how long do you feel this could drag on.. lastly we feel not so good about the outcome for the passengers long term... do you agree?
A. The technique of making forecasts about developments in the case based on the transits to the Departure chart is solid. For example, the last communication at 1:30 am happened as the Moon in Gemini reached the Descendant. I suspect transiting Saturn's square to Mercury relates to bad news about the prospects.
re: Grace and Nicole - Sorry to say Wolfstar but you are DEAD WRONG about Nicole Kidman not possessing the “depth of feeling and smoldering sexuality” of Grace Kelly. As a graduate of the performing arts (in acting) with three degrees in both film and theater, it is painfully obvious to me that you have not seen all of Ms. Kidman’s films nor her performances on the stage. If you had, you would never have made such a BLUNDERING STATEMENT!
re: Grace and Nicole - Even though Nicole Kidman does have a Scorpio rising, its her Gemini Sun which I feel more, so I agree she doesn't have that deeper sensual vibe thing going on like Grace did.
re: Mars Rx and war - Is Mars Rx a classic signature for war? I've read that in a few places. Here's one of them: " The Grand Cross in March and April of 2014 is especially violent in nature because Mars is retrograde in Libra, a classical astrological sign of war." Also, Lynn Koiner says that whoever initiates war under Mars retro will lose. And that includes litigation. I always thought that was interesting: " In an international war, whoever fires first will automatically lose or ultimately withdraw".
A. Yes, starting a conflict when Mars is Rx doesn't bode well, agreed. But I don't see it as an indicator for war. Don't forget that Mars goes through a retrograde cycle every two years. The major wars generally correspond to hard aspects between the outer planets. So the hard aspects Mars makes during the Grand Cross is another story, and that may surely lead to some open conflicts.

re: Marianne Williamson - Since I recently relocated for good in Rīga, being of dual citizenship and in retirement, I had not heard of Ms Williamson's foray into politics! As always, appreciate your nuanced and yet objective way of doing a reading. Having read a lot of New Age authors, possibly starting with numerous writings by Williamson, I'll be anticipating paying attention to summer developments. It's sort of like a grand experiment, to see if self-actualization translates, somewhat literally, into earthly success...and in politics. Also appreciate the tape with the Oprah interview.
It might just have hit the right note with me, as I return to the land of my birth. Only 1/3 of those exiled by WWII have done so, I recently heard on a Latvian current events channel. That's more than I presumed would return. And certainly, not growing up in a Latvian-American community, I hardly thought that I'd be returning. That's why Williamson's own vision, as you've captured it, is of such interest to me. Seems to point to a Providence, you know? Thanks for an illuminating article.

Chiron - I want to thank you for your comments on Jeff Bezos, and Chiron in your January 13th column. My brother was born on November 24, 1963 less than 2 days following JFK's assassination. About 7 days after my brother's 50th birthday, he suddenly and unexpectedly lost his eyesight in both eyes to cataracts. Jeff Bezos and my brother were born seven weeks apart from each other, and both of them had transiting Chiron within one degree of their natal Chirons when they experienced their respective sudden and unexpected health issues! re: UR-PL square - I have been keeping a diary of the hits of the Uranus Pluto square and especially when it forms a cross with personal planets and during January, July, October, etc. It has indeed been wreaking havoc in millions of people’s lives. As far as our current Economy goes, I think you are right when you say that the Cancer Jupiter and Scorpio Saturn are supporting or upholding our current Markets and Business situation. However, when Jupiter goes into Leo and Squares Scorpio I think Business as usual and the Overinflated Market will begin to DEFLATE like a punctured Balloon. By the end of Obama’s Lame Duck Term, we may indeed go into another unwanted RECESSION. That is my take on all this. What do you think?
re: your writing - Your work, your writing seems very Virgo: very clear, very precise. You are also a fine writer, such a rare thing. But you feel that magic and it is there in your work if someone is subtle enough to notice it. Astrology is very lucky to have you: someone with so much integrity, precision, professionalism and someone who transmits that magic, although I suspect that is done unwittingly.

Astrology Rising
For well over a year now, astrologers have been analyzing, discussing and publicizing forecasts about this month’s Grand Cross. This week, the influence of this Grand Cross - involving Mars, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto – reaches its maximum voltage as these four planets are all located at 13º of the cardinal signs. So far, we might consider ourselves to be fortunate considering the magnitude of this alignment.
Sure, the global village has experienced a few major catastrophes: a Korean ferry sinking, a lethal avalanche on Mt. Everest, several earthquakes, and the ongoing Ukranian crisis. But we haven’t seen economic collapse as some astrologers were predicting, or serious political instability in the United States that was also being kicked around. Perhaps the most important changes are the emerging trends that will change the socio-political structure over the long term.
One such example is the Supreme Court’s ruling that struck down limits on campaign finance (see NewsScope April 7, 2014). And in spite of widespread incredulity, Obamacare reached a critical mass last week when the number of new subscribers reached 8 million. Since 35% are under the age of 35, this controversial health care
plan is now a viable enterprise. It’s a radical change in the system that elevates the U.S. to what most other industrialized nations have already accomplished.
Another trend has to be the growing appreciation for astrology, not as Sun-sign entertainment, but more as a metaphysical language that provides insights into current events and the future*. No other discipline has this capacity, and with the internet going global, astrology’s reach is breaking through the closed minds stuck on the three-hundred-year-old model of Newtonian physics. We are in the midst of major paradigm shifts, but probably won’t understand the fundamental dynamics until we have the advantage of 20-20 hindsight.
You Don’t Believe in Astrology, Do You?
In the old physics textbooks, electrons were depicted as solid objects orbiting around a solid nucleus, much like the planets in our solar system orbiting around the Sun. But we know now that there’s nothing solid in the sub-atomic level of our reality: these “particles” are actually quanta of vibrations or waves of potentiality. Quantum physics has overthrown the old model of Newtonian physics, which only works at the macroscopic level of observation.
In other words, there’s a hidden layer of interconnectivity in our universe which exists outside the visible world. What appears to be solid is just an illusion, a collection of vibrations. The emerging paradigm is that the inner world of the psyche is also connected to the outer world of manifest reality, a view that was enunciated by Plato and other ancient Greek philosophers. For humanity’s entire existence, up to Newton, the greatest thinkers pictured the universe as a single living organism.
The new scientific paradigms have yet to take hold in most “educated” minds which still filter reality through the laws of Newtonian physics. Yet those who have studied holograms, fractal geometry, and quantum physics understand how the whole is in the part, how instant communication and interactions can take place across space and time at the quantum level. And most significantly, how the microcosm and macrocosm are interconnected by resonance and consciousness.
Astrologer Pam Gregory seized upon the glib insult “You don’t really believe in astrology, do you?” as the title for her first book. As she explains, astrology is not a belief system, but a symbolic language that has to be mastered. She explores the emerging scientific paradigms that support astrology. With the new discoveries in quantum physics, we are coming full circle. The cycles in nature, the movements of the planets, and the events in our lives are all part of one enchanted, interconnected universe. Each and every one of us is a co-creator of our collective reality.
Susan Miller, an American Original
Probably the most influential astrologer in America today is Susan Miller. Her website Astrology Zone gets some 20 million page views every month. She writes for several monthly magazines, appears regularly on TV and radio, and is especially active on Twitter where she responds daily to her 177,000 followers.
Susan Miller was born with a compassionate Sun-Ceres conjunction in Pisces (March 7, 1947; 10:30 am*; Manhattan, NY). Located in the 10th house of career, this combination naturally assumes a leadership position. Uranus is often said to be the ruler of astrology, and it’s placed right on her Gemini Ascendant, where it squares her Sun. Mercury is also involved with this dynamic, giving her a keen interest in communicating, writing, and explaining astrology as her life’s work.
Pallas at her Midheaven makes her a savvy businesswoman, especially since it’s trine Uranus. Pallas also squares Jupiter, a combination that often bestows the gift of vision, or at the very least, accurate insights and perceptions. She feels compelled to work extremely hard, writing some 40,000 words every month for her website. Mars and Venus both form challenging aspects to Saturn, which when combined with her Virgo Moon, makes her a hardened workaholic.
Chiron in her 6th house of health is under great stress by its squares to Saturn, Pluto and Venus. She was born with a rare blood disease and has had numerous blood transfusions and operations to get her functioning normally. Her Chiron is placed at 8º Scorpio – exactly conjunct the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant – which makes her the archetypal Wounded Healer. She’s an American original, wounded herself, but most interested in helping others.
