re: astrology rising - Actually, I don't "believe" in Astrology! I tell people: "It is not a Religion. It is not something to 'believe' in." It is simply Plane Geometry -- the study of repetitive geometrical patterns. Particular patterns will repeat themselves, often with the same results. That is where we, Astrologers, get our predictions from.
re: America's plutocracy - I'm struck by the sudden blockbuster best seller "Capital in the 21st Century" by Thomas Piketty. As an exposition of our current economic situation and trending direction, could this book be major force for change?
re: Susan Miller - Interesting to see Susan's chart. I used to work for her, and have met her in person as well a couple of times. Yes, she is one of the hardest working astrologers out there. She told me that she has a keen interest in how words work together, and she had very definite views of how to craft a sentence. For example, she also said to never use 'ing' in a sentence

re: Wal-Mart - Thanks so much for all you do. I especially enjoyed the Wal-Mart story. Wal-Mart is a major contemporary symbol of the US psychic landscape, at least for the common people of the US. I note the perfect conjunction between Wal-Mart's natal Mars and the USA's natal Pluto (and ruling planet). What do you think of that?
A. Yes, that's a major connection. The U.S. Pluto, the nation's ruling planet, describes the power of corporate America, and Wal-Mart is a major manifestation of that, a corporate warrior, if you will.
re: Wal-Mart - Wal-Mart's Saturn is also being eclipsed by the Solar Eclipse on the 28th. And its opposing its Sun as well. I don't think eclipses to Saturn are viewed as beneficial.
re: Colbert - I love Stephen Colbert! In his case, we can see how Saturn rewards hard work. You get what you deserve with Saturn. What he started 14 years ago has reached full flower and will now transition into something new.
re: America's plutocracy - I especially love your last line in the "Rise of America's Plutocracy" post. Yes, that and more. At least a few of us have noticed... It looks like the April 15 "Blood Moon" will be one degree off of both my Sun in Aries, and Moon in Libra. I'm thinking about staying "under the covers," but that doesn't seem to be what your advice is.
re: America's plutocracy - It's turning out more Brave New World than 1984 in some ways... I am constantly shocked by how much pharma my American friends ingest... and it's happening here too in the UK. The only thing that has put the brakes on it is the NHS, and that's not for a good reason, but simply because the government is cheapskate.... Yes -- Pluto is winning the Uranus-Pluto square at the moment...

re: MH370 - Just wanted to share a few comments & questions about the current mystery regarding the missing plane from some fellow astrologers. Like you, we feel that hidden hands set this in motion and that the plane is most likely not in the ocean but landed & hidden for now in another country pending some future action. We have been following the moon in the departure chart to watch the revelations & false starts to current hunt in south Indian sea under the recent Scorpio moon 12th house of that chart then into Sag... high hopes dashed back to square one for the hunt.
So our questions to you... when do you think the world will start searching on land... who do you think will solve this & how long do you feel this could drag on.. lastly we feel not so good about the outcome for the passengers long term... do you agree?
A. The technique of making forecasts about developments in the case based on the transits to the Departure chart is solid. For example, the last communication at 1:30 am happened as the Moon in Gemini reached the Descendant. I suspect transiting Saturn's square to Mercury relates to bad news about the prospects.
re: Grace and Nicole - Sorry to say Wolfstar but you are DEAD WRONG about Nicole Kidman not possessing the “depth of feeling and smoldering sexuality” of Grace Kelly. As a graduate of the performing arts (in acting) with three degrees in both film and theater, it is painfully obvious to me that you have not seen all of Ms. Kidman’s films nor her performances on the stage. If you had, you would never have made such a BLUNDERING STATEMENT!

re: Germany - I have six different charts for the German nation--including the Weimer Republic and the Reunification. Have you worked with the German chart? What chart do you recommend?
re: Elizabeth Warren - Glad you brought up Elizabeth Warren and her possible presidential run but really, do you have to join the Anybody But Hillary Bandwagon? I have yet to understand the hostility which both right and left wing pundits seem to hold towards her. It is not a product of her political actions but seems personal and malicious. I know of no other politician who has such critical, and pointless, scrutiny of her every action. You could at least try to maintain a veneer of civility towards her.

re: First Trade charts - I know you have written some things about first trade charts in your NewsScope column, but they seem contradictory. For YHOO you use 9:30 AM even though Michael Munkasey's Companies Database has 9:48 AM. For FB you used 11:30 AM. For BIDU you used 11:40 AM. Do you mostly use the actual time of the trade? Why one instead of the other? Have you tried researching the issue with many stocks? The problem with making predictions with FT charts is their complexity. Not only do you have to look at the natal chart, but both the P2 and P3 charts.
A. Your observations on FT charts are on target. I've been studying these charts ofr at least three years, but not until I got Munkasey's database did I realize that so many FTs are not set for 9:30 am. I analyzed YHOO and wrote about before I got his database, but have been using 9:48 since then. It's a real challenge to understand how the transits and P2 and P3 charts interact, but worth the effort. When the same message appears on all three levels, you get a strong indication of a big move and the direction.
re: Hillary and Neptune - You wrote about the physically weakening influence of Hillary's upcoming Neptune transits, but isn't it the case that Americans do kinda like Neptunian leaders? Isn't it also the case that she can come across as being too tyrannical? Couldn't Neptune softening her be a benefit...make her more appealing?
A. Yes, Neptune softens, and may have other effects. A prominent Neptune may be associated with deception, poor advice from her lieutenants, misinformation, and most likely, promising more than she can keep.
re: Donald Sterling - Your evaluation of Donald Sterling is outstanding. I live here in Southern California and have been glued to the coverage of Sterling and the Clippers since the news broke. Underscoring the generational and cultural impacts of Sterling’s Pluto in Cancer era makes the analysis more meaningful. We can we can “see” Sterling through his own historical lens and thus comprehend the origins of his belief system more readily. Too many astrologers neglect the importance of this.

Germany Boots Out U.S. Spy Chief
Last week Germany requested that the U.S.’s top intelligence officer in Berlin leave after two suspected cases of American spying. Tensions between Germany and the U.S. have escalated over the last year following Edward Snowden’s revelations that the NSA was eavesdropping on all German citizens. The longstanding German-American alliance is critical to many international peacekeeping efforts, but is now jeopardized.
Although Germany has many possible horoscopes, the German unification chart (October 3, 1990; 12:00 am; Berlin) is best for monitoring current events.* The Libra Sun conjunct Venus suggests Germany’s mediation role in international affairs. The Sun-Venus sextile Jupiter near the Leo Ascendant points to Germany’s leadership role in business and politics. The Sun also squares a Uranus-Neptune conjunction in Capricorn which defines its purpose as integrating different styles of government (the East and West).
On October 23, 2013, new Snowden files were released which indicated that the NSA was listening in on Angela Merkel’s cell phone, as well as the leaders of 35 other heads of state and American allies. The revelation was the first major break in trust between the U.S. and Germany and arrived during an exact square between Uranus and Pluto, which in turn was precisely aligned with Germany’s Sun.
Pluto is always a player when it comes to spying. Germany’s Pluto at 16º Scorpio is especially relevant to its relation to the U.S. since it’s exactly square the U.S. Midheaven. Pluto represents the pivotal leverage that Germany has in American international affairs, for example, as it mediates between Obama and Putin. Last week, transiting Saturn was conjunct Germany’s Pluto while transiting Uranus was quincunx. These two planets reflect the extreme ambivalence Germany has with the U.S., needing it for mutual security (Saturn) but also needing its independence (Uranus).

The End of the Prohibition against Marijuana
Last week New York became the 23rd state to legalize medical marijuana, and Washington became the second state to fully legalize recreational weed. The trend is clear: with an estimated $8 billion in annual pot sales by 2018*, and Colorado raking in $14 million in tax revenue per month, states are seriously considering the financial benefits of ending the laws against marijuana.
Astrologically, the ongoing Uranus-Pluto square is a natural signature for the liberalization of any overly-restrictive law. An historic parallel took place with the passage of the 21st Amendment to the Constitution on December 5, 1933 which ended the Prohibition Era. At the time, transiting Uranus and Pluto were squaring each other with an orb of less than one degree. Pluto was conjunct the U.S. Mercury which reversed a national decree (Mercury).
Neptune, as the natural ruler of drugs and alcohol, is also a major factor. In December 1933, transiting Neptune was sextile the U.S. Sun. More recently, Neptune had just entered its own sign, Pisces, when Colorado and Washington passed marijuana legalization measures in the November 2012 election. Also at that time, the U.S. progressed Sun was at 8º Pisces and nearly trine the U.S. Scorpio Ascendant.
Now, transiting Neptune is nearly trine the U.S. Ascendant. Next year and into 2016 Neptune will make three exact trines. The exact dates aren’t important since Neptune in this degree area marks a long-term process where it imprints its nature on the American identity (Ascendant). Also in 2016, transiting Neptune will conjoin the U.S. progressed Sun, when many U.S. leaders will likely get on board with the benefits of marijuana legalization. They will join the majority of Americans who already hold this opinion.
Cleveland, Twice Blessed
Last week the city of Cleveland, Ohio was twice blessed: The GOP announced it would be the host city for the 2016 Republican National Convention, and superstar LeBron James decided he would leave the Miami Heat and return to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Cleveland was originally platted and named on July 22, 1796, a date (set for noon) which serves as the modern city’s horoscope.
The Leo Sun square Neptune describes the city’s immense pride and devotion to the arts. Its Playhouse Square Center is the second largest performing arts center in the U.S. (after the NY’s Lincoln Center), it’s hosted numerous independent film companies, and is the home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The strong Neptune influence inspired John D. Rockefeller to incorporate the Standard Oil Co. in Cleveland.
The Mars-Saturn polarity has brought tremendous pressure to grow fast, and with Saturn in Gemini (and conjunct the U.S. Mars), Cleveland quickly became a major transportation hub and manufacturing center. When progressed Mars squared this Mars-Saturn axis in the 1950s and 1960s, racial tensions boiled over.
In November 1967, Cleveland became the first major U.S. city to elect a black mayor, Carl Stokes. At the time, transiting Pluto was exactly squaring natal Saturn, bringing a dramatic restructuring of government.
As transiting Pluto conjoined Mars and opposed Saturn in the early 2000s, Cleveland became known as a success story for revitalizing its downtown area. By 2005, The Economist ranked it as one of the most livable cities in the nation (as the progressed Sun conjoined natal Pluto). Currently, transiting Jupiter is nearly conjunct Cleveland’s Sun, bringing tremendous celebrations and renewed pride. And with progressed Mars sextile Pluto over the coming year, there’s every chance the Cavaliers will make it to the NBA playoffs.
